“Hotel Rila is highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

This was my second ten-day stay in the Hotel Rila in three years, and I would certainly go back again. Its location, amenities and rates make it a great value! The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. The room and bath are extremely clean and comfortable, while the breakfast buffet of cereals, yogurts, bread/rolls with toppings, meat, cheese and beverages is more than ample to start the day. The breakfast room is a relaxing environment for all guests. The hotel is only a few blocks from both the metro and trams, and its easy access allows you to get to and from the nearby airport with relative ease.

Stayed at the hotel for three nights which is located just outside Budapest downtown and just 4-5 metro stops to Pest part of the city. The hotel has it's own parking lot which is locked, so you can rest assure your car is safe. The neighborhood is nothing great, but if you're staying here, you're not expecting that. You need something affordable, basic and not that far from the city center and that's what we got. Room had a private bathroom with a shower, but the room itself doesn't have a TV set, which we didn't really need. They change the linens and towels every three days, but you can get them changed sooner upon the request. Room was spacious enough, but didn't have any carpets on the floor. Also, the walls are paper thin and you can hear almost everything from the other room. The service was adequate and we managed to get Budapest Card and Hop On-Hop Off tickets at the reception desk as well.

The location of the hostel is great, just a couple of subway stops away from the center of the city. Service was great, the staff was very nice and polite. Rooms were small but tidy, the bathroom was clean. The bed wasn't that comfortable, it was like made of stones. Free internet in the lobby was useful!

We didn't take the hotel breakfast, honestly, it looked very poor and you can get much tastier breakfast from town for less money.

The owner of the hotel gave us rides from and to the airport, and it cost about 10-15 euros.

All in all, a great hostel/hotel for budjet travellers! Had a really good time, I sincerely recommend this place if you want to experience the real Budapest.

...well, if you could sleep, that is. Mattress was awful with springs poking out. Bathroom, awful. The room itself, awful. And filthy. Breakfast, which was included in the price, consisted of stale toast with margerine, and that was it. No coffee, no juice, cereal, nothing. To top it off, the girls working there were surly and pretty unhelpful and it is a pretty good walk from the underground when you come back tired and laden with all the stuff you've bought in town.

This hotel was average, the decor was very nice outside and in reception area etc and the place was clean.
Breakfast was ok apart from the gristley Meat and the weird tasting coffee but im a big coffee person.
The walls are paper thin we kept awake most nights which wasnt very good there was some sort of school trip or something loads of kids making a noise in the corridors in the middle of the night really was ridiculous i ended up going nuts at them. could hear the next door neighbours etc really loud. so not great for a peacefull holiday but a good base for a wee city break.
good price with breakfast included, good location near metro pubs and supermarket near by.
