Description: Baltazar is a family owned "institution", a gastronomic hub or playground, with its warm, friendly, understated atmosphere. A haunt for a coffee, a glass of wine, the best meal or just for lounging. - Romantic cobble stoned terrace, playful atmosphere and unique design. - Honest and authentic ingredients prepared to perfection in our handmade Josper charcoal grill by one of the country's most decisive chefs, Mr. Zsolt Litauszki and his team. - Gourmet street food, food for sharing, serious meats, great vegetarian options. Simple, yet creative dishes. - The most notable wines of mostly the Carpatian Basin area. We carry around 300 titles of the most authentic wines in our Winebar and Terra Hungarica Wine store. - The Bar offers a selection of the best gins the word has to offer. We serve them with our favorite organic grain based Fentiman's tonic water for probably the best Gin&Tonic you have ever had.

“Nice place, good food & service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

We were looking for a place to eat on castle hill. Finally, our last attempt was this restaurant. Very nice place, very good service. We just had starters, side dishes and a draft beer which was very good.

“Salty Goulash”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

As one of the first places we visited, we wanted to choose somewhere that got great reviews, and as it was our anniversary we wanted somewhere friendly and enjoyable.

The waitress was friendly enough but not attentive considering we were the only people dining - A theme that continued for the rest of our long lunch.

The food was awful. I see that I'm not in the majority there - maybe the chef had a bad day?

I certainly wouldn't return to this tourist trap when there are many other places to go!

We sat outside for another beer, paid and left. No looking back, no reminiscing over our anniversary lunch will happen!

“Best Goulash Soup”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

This restaurant is on the entrance level of the Baltazar Hotel. While glancing through the June issue of Where magazine which we found in our hotel room, I noticed that the Front Desk Supervisor of our hotel (Hilton) had recommended this restaurant as well as a visit to the Hospital in the Rock museum (which is nearby). So, we walked up there. My husband has mobility issues and it was too much for him so the restaurant called a cab for our return trip.

Not only was the food very good and our server excellent, it was a family and pet frriendly place loverlooking the maria Magdalena Tower. It was a beautiful way to end our evening.

“One of the nicest lunches I had in Budapest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

Chanced upon this little gem whilst walking the back streets, well we fell lucky. Beautful spot to watch the world go by. Nice beer. One of us had the burger which I have to say was one of the best I have ever tasted. I had the platter of hungarian meats with bread, simple but lovely. The food was delicious and the ambience perfect.

“Delicious takes on traditional Hungarian dishes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

This restaurant, attached to the Baltazar Hotel, has cozy indoor seating and a spacious cafe outside, beautifully decorated. They even have color-coordinated red polar fleece blankets if the air gets chilly. Much of
the food is prepared with a charcoal oven. My daughter's and my favorite was paprika potatoes with kolbaz sausage and grilled octopus. Amazing. The assortment of delicious Hungarian wines rival those from better known European vineyards and the wait staff were knowledgeable in advising us which fit with our tastes. For breakfast, I ordered a Madame Croque that was made with tender brioche--delicious. The food was so good here that we found ourselves returning to our hotel each night rather than trying other restaurants that just didn't seem as inviting.
