“Loved my stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

First of all, Budapest is amazing! Don't bother wondering, just go. I stayed on both 'sides' Buda and Pest. And they are both wonderful. Baltazar is on the Buda side, and is great because it's on top of the palace hill, views everywhere you go. It's like an oasis, but a very groovy one. Great design, service, and experience. My room had a wonderful huge painting of women at market as the headboard to the bed. The bathroom was all marble and laid out well. I ate a few meals at the restaurant, and all were delicious. The service was also really impressive. Everyone was helpful & welcoming. You can't go wrong! Plus, if you love walking, the walk over to Pest is great, down through a park and across the bridge.

My wife and I traveled to Budapest without a previous hotel reservation. By chance, we stopped to have lunch and loved it so much (food was great as well as service) hat we inquired about the possibility to stay over. They had one room left and decided to stay. The staff were all super helpful and also spoke great English which of course is always a plus. Definitely be back next time we travel to Budapest.

We stayed for 4 nights at Baltazár, and it wasn't nearly long enough.

Our room: #31 was perfect. It wasn't huge by any means, but had everything we needed. A comfy king bed with great linens, down comforters, and good pillows. A waterfall shower, nice bathroom, and awesome art and wallpaper. Also a nice view out towards the castle district. There are only 11 rooms, and I can only imagine they are all equally as nice.

The restaurant: wonderful. We ate here our first night, our first morning, our last night, and enjoyed coffee, wine and beers from the bar everyday. The food was phenomenal and well priced. It was so great to have a place you always want to eat at just below your room.

The service: Exceptional. The wait staff was always so friendly- greetings as we arrived and set out for each day. So helpful at picking great Hungarian wines for us and available for anything we needed. The bartender was even sweet enough to help in the hunt for the earring I lost and she was so sweet when they found it.

As if everyone else wasn't perfect enough, then there was manager Kálmán who went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. He was just such a nice, friendly presence who clearly loves what he does, loves being at the Baltazár, and loves creating wonderful experiences for his guests. We already loved this place, but Kálmán made our stay so perfectly memorable.

The area: It was absolutely magical. The hotel is set at the end of a street in the castle district. Out your door you can wander though places like Fisherman's Bastion and look across the Danube to Pest. It's just perfect. We easily ventured to the Pest side everyday either via a short cab ride, the #16 bus, or a 20 minute walk or so. The green hop-on/ hop-off bus also drops off in the castle district a short walk away. We still enjoyed Pest's nightlife (ruin pubs, wine bars, karaoke-ing till 3am) and all of the sights, but we far preferred being on the quieter, more picturesque Buda side.

Baltazár Budapest is a perfectly done boutique hotel that made Budapest my favorite city we visited. They also own a bunch of other restaurants around town, and while we didn't get the chance to try them all, I can't imagine that they don't live up to the height standards the brand has set.

We wrapped up our 3 week honeymoon in Europe at the Baltazár and it was absolutely perfect. We can't wait to get back to Budapest and we will most certainly be staying here. We got home yesterday and I already can't wait to be back sitting on the patio, sipping on a wonderful Hungarian wine.

There are some great reviews about this lovely little boutique hotel on here & they are all true. Great rooms & fantastic service. Food was very good if a little on the expensive side at times - well some of the wine was. Great quality though.
Location was fine, yes it is a little out of the way of lots of restaurants & bars, but it was lovely & quiet & just a short stroll from the atmospheric Fishermans Bastion ( night time). We liked the walk around the castle area over looking the Buda hills. Very quiet & a great little bar just 3 minutes from the hotel that was in a great sunny spot.
Overall great value for the quality of the rooms & the service.
Budapest is a fantastic city.

The first impressions were good, the room was nice as was the location, and the person on the front desk when we checked in was polite and helpful. The linens and toiletries were good quality and the shower was pretty good also. The breakfast was overpriced and not great quality or selection, and unfortunately the mini bar only offered water - you have to stock it yourself if you want anything else. The service was pretty poor unfortunately, the person on the front desk for most of our stay seemed grumpy and didn't speak much English, and wasn't able to provide any help. For example we wanted to by hop on hop off bus tickets which they sell but he couldn't work out what we wanted and the wait staff had to step in. Also, be careful to insist on paying extras in local currency as they will try to change everything to Euros at a very poor rate. Overall we wouldn't recommend.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the top floor if possible.

We stayed one night after a 2.5 hr drive from Vienna. The room was one of the nicest, most comfortable rooms we've ever stayed in. We loved the location up on Castle Hill - we walked a few minutes to the other side of the Castle to get beautiful views of the city and the Danube from above. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was delicious as we sat outside and enjoyed the perfect weather. While it is a little walk down to the main part of town, we found Castle Hill to be super charming. We did treat ourselves to a ride up the inclined plane on the way back.

Baltazar Hotel is situated in the Castle District up on the Hill. It is superb in 'Quaintness' from the room to the restaurant. My wife and I were well treated by the manger, Kalmar, and the staff. The food was excellent from breakfast the first day to breakfast on our way to the train station. In between was the wonderful dinner where I had my first burger in weeks. It is well located in the area -we put on five plus miles just walking in the area seeing all the sites in the rain and the sunshine. I would highly recommend the hotel to all. Well done and thank you to management and staff.
