“Fantastic vegan curries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

We ordered a spinach curry and a potato and cauliflower curry from here to eat-in and were very happy. It's a very small cafe with two tables and seems to be run by one guy. I'm pretty sure he cooked our food to order as we could here him chopping away in the kitchen. It was really tasty and so cheap for how much you get. It was served with rice and a salad and unfortunately the salad had a yogurt dressing on it which we couldn't eat but the curry's were filling enough anyway. Added bonus that he also sold cans of beer! We didn't try any of the deserts or lassis but they also sounded lush. Would definitely recommend even if you're not a veggie/vegan.

“Nice place for an inexpensive yet tasty home cooked meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Wandering around after a well deserved beer just up the street, came across this tiny Indian/Vegetarian Restaurant. Well, more of a cafe really. The important thing is, the food seems to be homemade by the proprietor. We ordered the Samosa starter, a Veggie Sandwich, and two plates of mains. The paneer was our fave, but the black lentil dish was nice as well. Nice to know we have choices in the area for a hot sandwich for lunch, or a light meal for dinner. We will always be willing to wait for the food when it's prepared on the spot ...Prices are nice as well, under a 1000 forints for many things..A complete plate including salad, main and rice for under 1500 forints. Beer is available..along with chi and lassi. We'll return soon.

“good sandwiches and lassis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This familiar place in the heart of the city offers you very tasty sandwiches with different tastes. There are also nice indian dishes with rice and the expectacular mango lassi that I can recommend to everyone.

The only disadvantage of the place is that it's a bit slow, you can wait up to 30 minutes till your sandwich or plate is ready. Also in winter it's kind of cold inside due to the poor heating.

But in average, if you want a traditional indian vegetarian dish in an authentic environment, this is your place.

“Good Enough for Company”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

I ordered a few dishes here to test the kitchen. It is only down the street from me, so if the food turned out to be good, it would be convenient. I ordered one appetizer and two main dishes for take-away.

The owner was more than accommodating offering to make each as spicy or not spicy as I wished. He explained which had dairy and which didn't as a friend is lactose intolerant.

The restaurant is small and plain decorated with Indian posters on the walls, not much to look at. However, if you want an inexpensive meal, you can do with the lack of atmosphere for good food. The alternative is to do take-away using your own choice of surroundings.

The appetizer had the sauce on the side, which I appreciated. Each main dish had a small salad and a generous portion of Basmati rice and cost 900 Huf. This is a real bargain considering the Indian restaurants in the city.

Everything was delicious and the rice was cooked perfectly. Now that I have done the test run, I will order from here to supplement my meals when I have guests for dinner.
