We recently stayed at the Ibis Centrum on Raday utca and were quite pleased with our stay. The room and experience fit the price paid and we'd generally be happy to stay with this hotel in Budapest again.
Easy to reserve and smooth check-in: We reserved through booking.com, reservation was confirmed quickly and upon check-in everything was sorted in no more than 5 minutes. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful.
Good location: 8-10 minute walk to the city centre and just a couple minutes walk from Kalvin Ter Metro station. There are also plenty of restaurants along Raday Utca and the general area.
Room: Functional, not fancy, room with decent size and expected configuration for Ibis hotel. Closet area, while small, is sufficient for most travellers' items as well as business travellers. There is additional open shelf space under the TV if needed. There is a large extension from the wall below the window that provides considerable space for laptops and other traditional table needs.
Bathroom: Shower space was sufficient and water pressure was nice.
TV: Room included television with a fair number of working channels, including a couple of English programming - like BBC.
Wifi: Free wifi at the Ibis with quick access and strong signal in our room throughout our stay.
Lobby area: Modern contemporary design with small bar area right next to the check-in counter. There is a device charging station along with a computer (wifi) as well. Fairly standard Ibis arrangement.
Room is functional but basic. You get what you pay for and that is pretty much it. Those interested in nicer hotel rooms and more comforts will probably want to look elsewhere. Also, closet area is small, could be an issue if you have much luggage.
Bed: The mattress was a bit firmr than other Ibis hotels we've stayed at. Would have have preferred something a bit softer.
No safe to store your valuables in the room.
Housecleaning: Left noticeable dust in the room from previous visitors and on shelves from previous guests. This was disappointing. Otherwise, daily cleaning was acceptable.
TV: Limited number of channels and English programming if this is an issue for travellers.
Overall, we were generally happy with the Ibis Centrum hotel and would be happy to stay there again. The pros outweigh the few cons and those familiar with the Ibis hotel chain should be generally approving of what they experience here.
