Have just returned from the Hotel Burg with my husband. We spent 4 nights at the hotel and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The rooms were spotless and breakfast was good. The front desk staff all speak excellent English are and more than willing to give advice on transport etc. They will even arrange transport to the Airport if required. Great location, especially at night when the area is quiet and you can access the upper level of the Fisherman's Bastion at no charge. The view from the hotel windows must be our best ever, directly over Mattias Church. Restaurants in the area are good but a little more pricey than other areas in Prague. The cheapest bar for a drinks in this district is by the entrance to the Castle Labyrinth. Also a must is a visit to the Ruzwarm cafe just down from the hotel where they serve the best cream cakes etc at a very modest price. In the evenings we walked down the steps in front of the Fisherman's Bastion to Bethany Ter where there is an excellent restauarant called A La Carte which is also very reasonable price wise. There is a nice bar Isoabella directly opposite. A visit to the war bunker on Gellert Hill is also a good day out if you don't mind the walk up to the top.
The Pest side is less attractive, a typical city, although the Parliament Buildings, Jewish Quarter, Danube Cruise, St Stephens Basilica, Heroes Square and Margaret Island are all worth a visit.
The number 16 bus from Elizabeth Square will drop you at the door of the hotel.
