This hotel/botel is exc value for money. Winter offer 37 euros per night for two persons which includes breakfast. The botel is in a very good location, approx 5 minute walk to a main tram junction plus if you want to walk into the main shopping street it will take you about 25 minute. The botel is beautiful inside and the Restaurant superb value, approx £7 for a three course meal however the drinks can be expensive.
The only minor fault which i could find was the double bed in our room was very low to the ground. You will certainly enjoy your time on this boat.
Ps numerous cheap bars in the area- £1 a pint.
We could not fault the Fortuna Hotel - it is Central, comfortable and FUN!
Make sure you pull the cutains well though, as the pleasure boats get a good view close up through those big windows!
Fantastic City with so much to see and do. Our Hotel, Bo-Tel Fortuna, on the Pest side of the Danube was basic but adequate. We had up-graded to the larger Double Room but this was still small with no tea coffee making facilities which was disappointing. Visited the Gellert Baths following a recommendation on Trip Advisor and well worth the visit...Tour around the Jewish Ghetto and Synagogue was also very moving and cultural. Had a trip on a river boat on the danube, all the commentary was in English and very informative....Loved our stay with plenty of reasonably priced restaurants to choose from we will definately return to this enchanting city.
What a great alternative to a crowded hostel! I paid 20 euro for a single room with shared bathroom. The fifth night is free, so I stayed 6 nights for a total of 100euro. The room was small, but clean and with a sink, plus sheets and towels provided. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. It is just a short tram ride away from the "center" of town- i.e. the expensive tourist area. There were lots of little neighborhood shops and restaurants nearby with meals priced half what they were in the touristy areas. While I was there, there was a big street fair just outside the boat hotel, which was a bit loud at night, but also fun to see and with the amount of people around I felt safe returning by myself even around midnight. If I had stayed longer I probably would have spent time in their pub or on the top deck of the boat relaxing in the sun... Next time I am in Budapest I may consider staying in the more elegant 3star hotel on the boat (65 euro single 80 double) but I will definitely come back here!
