“Amazing value and great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

I recently stayed here in late October for 3 nights with 2 other people.

The location of the botel is decent as it is right beside Margaret Island, great for walking around and relaxing. Due to the construction around the Parliament currently it adds some time when walking to the centre but both in daylight and night time the views along the Danube are breathtaking so more time spent strolling the streets and the river was not really a problem.

We reserved the triple private room without washroom and it averaged outto be 11€/night, 10€ if you have the HI membership. For this price we had a good size room with 3 single beds, a view out on the water and of Margarit Island, a sink and a good size armoire. The bathrooms were right beside our room. In this price we also had breakfast which was amazing and I will describe below.

The ONLY downside that I normally would change the rating to a 4 (but everything else makes it a 5), were the washrooms and showers. If there was a room where the shower and toilet were included it may be a different story but for the shared washrooms they were not the cleanest. The male and female washrooms were separated but when using the shower there was no door or lock, just a curtain, but absolutely no where to put your clothes or towel. We did not find the toilets worked very well either.

In regards to the breakfast that was included in the price, for what we ate and what was offered the price is a given. The breakfast was buffet style and choices were not lacking. From scrambled eggs, bacon; sausages, to deli meats for sandwiches, cereals and fruit and yogurt there was plenty of variety. Tables were cleared up fast and we never had a problem with food running out or dirty tables.

The service was really good. The attendants answered all of our questions and provided us with advice as well!

My boyfriend liked the location at night, especially the deck that looked out towards the island, bridge and lit-up monuments from afar so much so that he proposed to me on the deck and we are now engaged! This place will always now have a little special place in my heart!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Danube to get even better views!

This hotel was exactly as we expected, having read reviews, cannot say more about how good it is for what we paid which was €30 a night for a two bedded room with breakfast.

At time of writing (end October 2013), be aware that metro line 2 is undergoing a series of all day and evening closures, due to the construction of the new line 4. We arrived at 9 at night out of Keleti train station in the dark to discover no big signs warning us, the portable info stand was closing and wouldn't help us. It was a rather hard start, found a bus, guessed the direction, good guess.

At the time of writing, the very useful and picturesque line 2 tram which runs the east bank of the Danube and from where you can take great photos of Castle Hill, Gellert Hill and the river bridges, this line is currently closed in the northern section which goes around the national Parliament building.

At the time of writing, the 61 tram which takes you up to the Children's Railway and Cogwheel Railway in the Buda hills is also partially closed and has a replacement bus of the same number running. By the time, we'd got to using that route, I started to recognize the "closed for works" posters in Magyar.

It really did feel like we were unintentionally searching out all the public transport lines which were closed!

Highly recommend doing a few spas. No children allowed at Kiraly and Rudas, otherwise children tolerated at the other ones. We went to Gellert and Szechenyi but will do some more of them on the next visit. Look them all up here. http://www.spasbudapest.com/

I recommend this accomodation to everyone wants to get a a higher standard service for a fair price. Rooms were nice, breakfast excellent. We spent an great night time on the rear of the boat just drinking with the look at the Buda castle. Overall, very romantic place to stay in Budapest.

We stayed 3 days in May. It is a boat. Location is excellent. It was easy to get to all attractive places. The cabin was clean. Breakfasts had good quality and diversity. At check-in we got a flyer with 15% discount for one diner. So, once we had a good diner with traditional gulyash on the open desk. The thing we were not ready is the size the room and bathroom. It was small comparing to traditional hotel rooms. Also in some reason windows designed in the way that they can not be open. As compensation of this you can use boat desk and open space that goes around the floor for having a drink and watching cruise ships passing by on Danube waves.

Room Tip: If you like to watch the river and boats passing by ask for the room on that side of boeat.

Visited the hotelboat with 61 students.
1. the service and contact before the stay was very good and fast.
2. arriving went smooth and quick, and the staff is VERY polite and helpfull for ekstra wishes.
3. The breakfast is really good! It takes several mornings to try all kind of food. It includes also hungarian classic breakfast and fresh fruts.
4. The price is very fair compared to the high level og service, good fascilities and food.
5. it is just a perfect location. In the middle of the city and a beautiful place at the danube.

Room Tip: choose a room at the first floor with even numbers, then you wake up to the view of Danube every mor...

Just got back from a three night stay. It's only a star hotel so don't have massive expectations. My cabin was functional and clean if a little small. The air conditioning unit did not work but it wasn't required. Breakfast is a continental buffet in a small dining room so do expect to share your table with others. Location wise you are very close to the river taxi and five minutes walk from a couple of the major tram routes. Getting to all of the major attractions is very easy from here. All told an enjoyable stay.
