We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was large and clean with comfortable beds and two pillows! (A real treat by my hotel experience!) the breakfast was a wide selection to satisfy all appetites, including hot and cold options. The receptionist was wonderfully kind and helpful which meant we were able to make the best of our mini break in Budapest. Thankyou to the Gold Hotel!

We booked through Gala Hotels and sincerely we had emotions about them after we read a lot of bad reviews. But the booking was ok with the hotel. Think they have communications problems. I am not sure if we book again with them.
Hotel Gold Budapest - Nice hotel, good staff.
The BIG PROBLEM- if you need internet it is AWFULL. Their wireless equipment have very unstable signal, probably is something home use not professional. If you travel for business AVOID. If you travel for fun, ok the hotel is nice. Had nightmare relating to the internet

Clean, comfortable room. Great value for money. Only downside is the horrendous traffic noise, but that applies to most of the city. Ate at the restaurant twice and had excellent Italian food. Had a really enjoyable break.

We spent 3 nights in this new hotel. The room was nice, quite and clean. No complaint of room , bathroom and breakfast. Staff is also helpful and friendly. The city center is easily accessible by bus number 8 or 112 / only 2 stops. Very good price / value. Highly recommended.

The Gold Hotel in Budapest is a modern, well-appointed, clean hotel that is a very good value relative to the other offerings in the city. While just a bit out of the center of action, it has good proximity to Metro stations (about 5-minutes walk) and you can get to the city center in less than 30-minutes walk. A very classic Turkish bath house is about a 10-minute walk as is the Danube River and major bridge into the city center. The only real downside of the hotel is that it's located on a very busy street that leads into one of the major bridges in Budapest. The hotel has installed good soundproofing windows that bring the noise to a bearable level, but you can never have the windows open to enjoy the fresh air or night breezes. As for the restaurant, while not a comprehensive opinion as I only had one meal there, Amulet Bistro located directly by the hotel was horrible! The food was fair enough but the service on the night I dined was a scene directly out of Hell's Kitchen. The staff was completely unorganized and scrambling to keep up with the patrons requests for service and to correct errors. Be careful of the welcoming glass of wine offered by the hotel, it's only for their very cheapest wine and they fail to tell you that when you order, so the bill was a bit more than I bargained for. Overall, I'd seek other accommodations that are away from a busy street. If it's winter and very cold out, then I think the Gold Hotel would be fine as the windows can stay closed all day.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the very back of hotel. The road noise is unbelievable and you'll want to...

The hotel itself was very clean and has obviously done up recently, with a new lift and electric taps! The beds were comfy and the windows provided excellent insulation against the busy road outside.

It's located near quite a lot of historic sites (caste area, citadel and baths) on the Buda side of the city. If you're looking for late nights then perhaps try Pest, although there are convenient bus routes (8,8a and 112 that take you from the Elisabeth bridge to almost outside the hotel).

The restaurant was small but the menu seemed nice. We only had drinks one evening but the prices were reasonable. You may want to invest in the breakfast of a morning as there aren't many other locations nearby to get food.

I would recommend for couples wanting to explore the charm of the old city.

Every bit as good or better than Castle Hill Hilton unless the view is worth $150 more per day. My daughter stayed at the Hilton, so I could compare it. I think the room was as good, the staff was courteous and helpful...just didn't wear the fancy uniforms, and the complementary breakfast might have been better.
