“Defo not a hit,but big miss!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. When we arrived we found the hotel was having huge renovations outside- not a welcoming sight. We did find the hotel staff helpful and polite though. Our room was a fair size, however it was like a sauna! We had booked a room with air con, thus when queried this were told the whole hotel had a central air con system- this was a pain throughout the stay as we could not leave any windows open when out due to them being huge, glass and easily accesible. The shower facilites were average. The biggest dissapointment was the breakfast. it was awful. we eat only halal / vegetarian foods. There was nothing apart from cheap cereals to eat everyday with the warm milk. They mixed the eggs with the pork thus we couldnt eat them. All in all this hotel was a dissapointment. I wouldnt reccomend it, and they should put on there website they have huge construction works going on"

Thank You for your feedback with detailed comments.
It is true, we have some outside renovations, which is not always welcoming. New stairs, new terrace, new windows. I did my best to show the renovation dates on all online sites, I am sorry if it was not clear for you. The renovation will be finished in July.
The new windows can be opened, closed and tilted , I hope all guests will find the best way to use it. Air conditioning works best, if the windows are closed.
I am sorry to hear that breakfast was disappointing for you. We have more types of yogurts, jams, muslis, fruits, nuts, cheeses, vegetables and cakes on the buffet tables. There are usually 4 types of warm dishes, 2 with meat and 2 without meat (scrambled eggs and letscho), but if you have any extra wishes, like special egg, than our breakfast team is more than happy to prepare it.
We are open to solve any problem as they come up. We understand that a renovation can be difficult, that is why we kindly ask our guests to let us know immediatly, if any problem emerge. We are open to offer another room and other solutions.
Thank you for being our guest and I hope we can show how better we can be next time.
Best Wishes,
Mariann Arany-Toth

Spent three nights in Gold Hotel Buda, the hotel staff was very helpful with good english. The room was nice and the bathroom clean. The worst thing about this hotel was unfortunately food - the breakfast was quite poor and same every day, it didn't taste very well and the vegetable was not fresh.
We were disappointed about the public transport system, you have to buy a ticket (320 HUF) for every journey, so that you are not allowed to use subway and change on a bus with one ticket. On the other hand the hotel is not so far from city centre, so we used to walk down the hill to the river.
The hotel reception provides tickets to spas and also Budapest card, but we found it not very worth the price.
The Hungarians in general are not very customer-friendly to visitors, speaking about waiters, shop-assistants and so on.

This hotel on the Buda side of the Danube is ideally placed for visiting the Castle and the Old Town and Gellert Hill. It is also on a handy bus route to get over to the Pest side.
The Hotel is quite small but is very comfortable. Our room was lovely and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was variable - good one day but not much choice on other days. They explained that they top up as stocks run low so that food is fresh rather than leaving it out which is fair enough but we had to ask for fresh eggs as the dish was empty and no-one seemed inclined to fill it up. Coffee ran out too. They said breakfast was served until 10am but we were struggling to find much left by 9 am and the staff seemed unwilling to top things up. There was a lot of traffic noise at night as its so close to a busy road but we slept well - all the exercise walking up the hills!

Spent three nights (long weekend) in Gold Buda, with wife and two other couples. Very tidy rooms, good breakfast and good location, and all of this in very reasonable price. Walking distance to Buda side old town and castle and one bust stop to Pest side activities. We can highly recommend this hotel for the people who like to be active, want to see a lot within long weekend and sleep well. Hotell staff helped us with cruises, Budapest cards and dinner reservations. Good weekend!!!!

Can only rate this hotel as average I'm afraid. I'm not sure what star rating it claims but I would probably say about 2.5, possibly 3 stars. The staff were all very polite and helpful with very good English, but our room was fairly small and basic with no tea/coffee facilities and very basic bathroom supplies. Breakfast was the usual European hotel fare with hot and cold choices which I really enjoy actually and the coffee was excellent.
It is located on a busy urban dual carriageway with bus stops just up and down the road but it is a good 20 minute walk to the castle district and about 15 minutes to the top of Gellert Hill. One reviewer said it was 10 minutes walk to the Gellert Baths. I'm sorry, but no way! I'm a tall hiker used to walking, and it would take me at least 20 minutes if I strode out and most people 30 minutes at least.
So nothing particularly wrong with this hotel, our stay there was absolutely fine, but it's just nothing special in my opinion.

My first impression of the Gold Buda Hotel (beyond the very pretty exterior) was a lovely man on reception, who after checking us in spent around 20 minutes giving us advice on things to see on the area and answering our numerous questions! The staff were all wonderful and incredibly helpful, and the room was of a good size, clean and well-presented. The location is great, with good transport links to the Pest side, and within walking distance to Buda Castle. There's also a shop almost next door, for any little bits that are needed.

It really is great - I would definitely stay there again.

Visited Nov 2011, nice little hotel located on the Buda side.
Good transportation links actually not too bad to walk into town.
Quite a noisy situation as on a main rd, good value for money, wouldn't say it's the most modern accommodation but its clean and functional,
Reception staff vey helpful, breakfast buffet ok takes them a while to replenish.

Fine for a weekend stay , value for money.
