3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2009

Stayed for 2 nights. Interesting building with super long hallways. Staff were sort of nice. Hotel cover-sheets were kind of yellow and pillows were old, which was weird. Also, only gave little packets for shampoo. Hotel has good enough location, next to metro and trams. Not in the middle of tourist district, but still accessible. I'd only recommend if you're trying to same some cash and don't really mind the "no frills" rooms.

This was a very nice hotel - quaint - close to train station and not too far from historic part of town. Closest transportation was bus, but not too far from Metro (which we did not use).

We had easy access to internet in lobby as well as wi-fi. The staff was very nice and helpful. Recommended a good restaurant across the street (associated with hotel). We easily made the trip from hotel to points of interest in town. Rooms were small by nice and clean. Comfortable lobby with nice TV. Quiet neighborhood. I would recommend this hotel. The owners are fans of snoopy, so you will find many snoopy items in the lobby.

  • Liked — warm and cozy - we felt like we good easily relax here
  • Disliked — I dont really have any negatives to mention

Considering the paucity of Budapest hotels under $100, we found Hotel Anna more than satisfactory. Good location, helpful English-speaking family owners, good breakfast, free Internet. They were happy to hold our forgotten bag for several days until we returned to Budapest to retrieve it. Given the price, we could live with the small room and barely adequate shower. We were very pleasantly surprised when we decided to return to Budapest for our last two days and were given a lovely room on the top floor for the same price.

Pleasent hotel. Location not too bad. It will take you 15 minutes to get to the main area.
If you like walking you can walk everywhere in Budapest. Yes it can be a long walk at times but if the weathers nice you see a lot more. We didn't use Public transport once and saw everything worth seeing in Budapest, except for the Statue Park, I think that's what it's called.
Breakfast at the hotel wasn't brillaint for us as we are veggies, lots of cold meats etc. Will someone buy them a toaster! They only had one 2 slice toaster and that broke!! Scrambled eggs were sloppy. Plenty of jams and bread though. Don't be British and polite, just elbow the Germans out of the way. That's what they did. (Germans are nice and polite generally but these were a bunch of rude women in their fifties, they thought they owned the place - not since the 1940's!)
We stayed in their comfort rooms. It's part of the outer building in the terrace. The room was clean and basic, 2 single beds though. Warning the shower will cave your scull in. But I loved that!!! The most powerful shower I have ever experienced. Coupled with that though was the amorous shower curtain, it just loved to wrap around you. This is obviously due to the misplaced location of the extractor fan, right above your head.

Overall, clean and functional with good and friendly staff.

The hotel is overall okay but has many annoying problems:
- bad breakfast served on dirty dishes (on our first day, there was not much edible food available. Our second breakfast was better thanks to freshly made omelettes). Saucers were not clean, they still had the predecessors' coffee stains. Trays had sticky handles (probably honey or jam from many generations of previous guests).
- parking is very difficult due to a narrow driveway; turning is impossible.
- prices are quoted in Euros by the hotel and credit cards can be used, but the hotel will only accept Forint. They use an extortionate exchange rate, about 4.3 percent above the interbank exchange rate. So, if using a EUR credit card, expect to pay about 5 to 7 percent more than the quoted EUR price (4.3 percent to the hotel for EUR-Forint conversion and another 1.5 to 2.5 percent to your credit card company for Forint-EUR conversion).
- wifi is free but works only in the lobby, it did not work in our room.
- furniture is stupidly arranged: in our room, there was plenty of space, but the beds were placed in such a way that the bathroom door could only be opened halfway. This gives a feeling of crampedness although there is plenty of space.

  • Liked — free wifi (although it worked only in the lobby)
  • Disliked — getting charged more than the quoted and agreed price

We stayed five nights at Hotel Anna and found it a really pleasant experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and it was nice to be able to eat breakfast in the courtyard. The location was pretty central, close to metro station and tram stops, but in a quiet side street so that it was quiet at night. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to book another visit there.

  • Liked — Quiet but central location
  • Disliked — Nothing

I stayed at this hotel for a week in the very end of May 08 and I choosed it after reading the Tripadvisor's reviews. Unfortunately, it was the first time when I was very disappointed! I even think that it was the worse hotel in my life! The location is not the central one, it will take you less than 10 minutes walking to the metro-station (Blaha Luijza ter ), which is in 2 stops to the cenral station (Deak Ferenc ter). Not too far, but you will easily find a lot of much more conveniently located hotels. As I travelled alone they gave me a very small & dark room at the first floor, with a little window & one lamp over the door, so I could not even read in the evening. There were almost no furniture, only the bed , the wardrobe & one chair (no table or something else). Nothing to say that TV did not work! The bed was terrible, it was absolutely deformed, so now I still have the problems with my back after 7 nights of nightmares! It was noisy both in the early morning, cause they start doing something in the inner yard & in the late evening as well. It was almost clean in the room but the towels were very dirty! The breakfast was very basic - eggs, sausages, serials, it was was just the same every day, with no variations - no vegetables, no fruits, no biscuits - nothing! They seem to try economize at everything! I had to pay 62 EUR per day & I have no feeling that it was cheap! To be truthful, I can say that the staff was polite, they always smile & try to be helpful. The hotel claims to be a 3 star, I honestly would not even give it 2.

  • Liked — nothing
  • Disliked — the awful room
