You´ll see pictures of the beautiful building and the fantastic baths and you´ll want to stay in the hotel...well I recommend you don´t.
The building is truly beautiful...well, watch it from the ouside - even the lobby is run down...
The baths are fantastic...true, buy a ticket to the baths, you don´t need to stay at the hotel to enjoy them...
The standard room, which is quite expensive (over 100 Euro a night), is simply appalling...old cheap furniture, chipped chairs and beds, crappy carpet, very small room - barely a meter and a half around the bed, we got one with views to an inside courtyard consisting of low roofs of buildings belonging to the hotel...the bathroom is dismal...do not stay in one of the "cheap" rooms.
About 15 minutes after check in I was down at the reception asking to get another room. I was willing to pay more but they said only the cheapest rooms were available, the rest were fully booked. Two more guests that had just checked into the "cheap" rooms in front of me were down there complaining as well. These rooms belonged in an old motel rather than a luxury hotel, believe me! but they were expensive!
We had booked for 4 nights - we spent the first night and then moved to the Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget (same company) for the next 3 nights. A beautiful modern hotel!
