“wonderful break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

we were very satisfied with the service and friendly reception at the 'Meditteran'. nice location, only 5 mins by local bus to the city centre, we experienced three seasons in three days (blue skies, snow then rain) it was lovely to return after a busy day in this beautiful, exciting city to a warm room and luxurious hot bath.
The restaurant was not available for dinner but there is an excellent pub/restaurant (The Arachiny ?) about 200m up the road that served an enormous selection on the menu at very reasonable prices and the staff speak excellent English with a friendly smile.
We would recommend this hotel, it was part of the fab experience of Budapest, Thank You

Dear Bernadette A,

I was happy to read your satisfied words about our Hotel here on Tripadvisor! Thank you for mentioning our location! Many people believe that staying in a hotel on the Buda side means you are out of the city. But in fact you are right! In 5-10 minutes one can easily get in the very centre of the city with convenient direct bus line. Thank you again for your nice words and comment! Hope to see you soon in Budapest!

Best regards,

“Grandson's 18th birthday celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

The hotel was initially selected by our son-in-law - the reason for going to Budapest was that his son wished to have the visit as his 18th birthday present - we were invited as grandparents.

We were all extremely pleased with the hotel. The staff spoke excellent English, were knowledgeable and very helpful. One could purchase a cold breakfast (we declined); there was a bar which seemed to do most trade in the evening. There was a bus stop under 10 minutes away which took you into the city.

Our bedrooms had plenty of storage space, were bright and airy. Two of our number found the room cold at night - additional bed linent was provided when they requested an extra duvet/blanket. There was always plenty of hot water. We did not make use of the sauna.

There is a very good shopping mall about 10 minutes walk from the hotel (it is situated behind the Novotel). As stated in other reviews the bus stops 8 and 112 are close by.

The hotel is very clean and we would recommend to our friends and if we return to Budapest we would have no hesitation in using again.

Room Tip: Our rooms faced a busy road (there was an ambulance station not too far away and you could hear the...

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The hotel is situated in Buda part of the city, but it's close to bus station (8 and 112) - the connection with the center of Budapest. I read some very good information from precedent reviews of TripAdvisor, and I verified how to arrive at the hotel from the airport : bus 300E until metro station - Kobanya Kispest, then metro (blue line) until Deak Ter station, then you'll change metro line - (red line) until Deli Palyaudvar station (the end station of this line) , and tram 61 - direction Hotel Novotel (you'll be alert to observe on the right side hotel Novotel and a fuel station, before to leave the tram). The hotel is about 100 meters away, on the left side of the street.
Of course, you must be careful to buy some tickets (the same for metro, bus or tram) from the newspapers shop of the Budapest Airport (otherwise you'll fail to pass for the metro).
The room and the bathroom are ok, very clean and welcoming. Don't forget to ask for a room in the back side of the hotel, because the noise from the main road.
The breakfast is variate and very good.
A surprise, for they who don’t read the reviews from TripAdviser, can be the city tax, which is asked when you leave the hotel (I don't no why); it's not a great amount of money, but you have to keep some, for this purpose.
Near the hotel is a small pub, where you can eat some pizza and drink a good bier.
Also, it takes 5 minutes walk to arrive to MOM PARK Shopping Center, a kind of Mall, where you can find small restaurants and shops.
If you are European citizen, you can visit the Parliament presenting the pass only. Outside there you can buy tickets for HOP OFF HOP ON - green and pink sightseeing line ; these tickets includes a bonus - many discounts for museums, shops, or restaurants, and one goulash soup, one bier, and one hour boat trip on the Danube - all free of charge (this is another gold information from TripAdvisor reviews).
It was a memorable trip in Budapest, and I remember this hotel to be back sometime.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are quieter

Dear Pat, Tom, Martin and David,

Thank you for your comment, hope you guys had nice time in Budapest and plan to return in the near future! Is true, Aranyhid Restaurant at the corner serves huge portions of delicious meals. Is a real challenge to eat all from the starter till dessert. :)

We wait you back at Hotel Mediterran and wishing you Happy New Year!

“Good value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I stayed at the Hotel for 3 nights in May 2012. Our room was spacious and very clean. We had lots of wardrobe space and the room also had a safe, mini bar, TV, hair dryer, toiletries etc.

Our room was facing the main road which was quite noisy with the window open, but was fine with the window closed. (The room had air con so no need to open the window anyway!) The staff were friendly and helpful, and we were able to access the free internet in the main reception area.

I would say the Hotel is a little out of the way from Pest - main tourist area, and we only came across one bar nearby which was very cheap but closed around 11pm. My only other negative point would be that the double bed that we requested, was actually 2 single beds pushed together. Not ideal for couples but not the end of the world. Overall, great value for money.

Dear DanielleDada,

Thank you so much for sharing your good experience with tripadvisor readers!

I am happy you mention free internet corner at the reception area! Right now I take the opportunity to announce that from beginning 2013 we offer FREE WIFI in Hotel Mediterran for all our clients! So our guests can access the internet easily either by their laptop or smartphone in the whole building. Login code is provided by the reception. I hope all our clients will appreciate and enjoy this new free service!

You mention a negative point about the beds pushed together. We have 10 rooms with classic double bed mattress, the rest of our 30 rooms can be combined as twin or double rooms, by pushing together or separating beds. I am sorry to hear there was no more free classic double room free when you stayed with us. I will consider to set more of this roomtype with classic double mattress.

Thank you again for your comment, I am sure it will help a lot the tripadvisor fans making their choice when they search for hotels in Budapest!

Best regards,

Attila
