“Not 3 star.......nearer 4.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I have been travelling to Budapest for the F1 for far to many years to mention and can honestly say that this hotel is by far the best that myself and my friends have stayed in. The guys in reception were really helpfull whether it was recomending a good resturant or phoning for a taxi, their attitude was really professional and always courtious. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom with both a shower and a bath. There was a television, hair dryer a mini bar and a safe as well. The hotel is fully air conditioned as well and this was fantastic as the weather was quite hot with the temperature topping out at around 40c. The room overlooked the breakfast area and was nice and peacefull.
Breakfast was good. It consisted of scrambled eggs, cold meats, a selection of cheeses, breads and jams. Tea and coffee were also available as was a selection of juices.
There is a small bar which is very reasonably priced (they offer a happy hour every evening which is a great addition). There is a great seating area at the front of the hotel where you can sit and watch the world go by.
The location is also really good. There is a good selection of bars and resturants within a 2 minute walk or if you prefer you can walk to the main square which can be walked in around 25 minutes along the banks of the Danube. This area has a very good selection of both Hungarian and International style resturants and bars.

I would highly recommend the Hotel Sissi.
I will be looking to book my F1 trip again around Christmas time and will be very disapointed if we find that it is fully booked.........
A fantastis time was had by all

Stayed at hotel sissi for 4 nights, very nice, but the room was very warm and stuffy, couldn't open the window wider, the drains in the shower were partially blocked, as the water took a long time to drain. Would have loved to have a water cooker in the room , the tv was not working, but after pointing it out to the staff, it was fixed, we were able to view German, Chinese, Hungarian and English channels., so the tv, the wifi, ac was a huge plus, not forgetting the close proximity to the restaurant street and a very nice restaurant nearby , I think it's call mezcal ., the Balkan grill, is just opposite have the best gyros . As a whole, the hotel sissi is very nice and clean, next time, if i am back in Budapest ( this was my 4th time) I will certainly try to stay here again, but will bring my own water cooker. Will certainly recommend this hotel .

Room Tip: Choose the back rooms, facing the courtyard, less noice. Some rooms have balcony, some have French b...

A good clean small hotel, quiet area, near to trams and metro. About a 20 minute walk to city centre, 5 minute walk to river Danube. Some restaurants and cafe's nearby. Nice breakfast with outside seating area. Probably similar to a Premier Inn/Travelodge room. Air con in room. We did stay in a front room, which could have done with having blackout blinds as there was a street light outside, but still had a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Would suggest getting a room at back of building or higher floor at front.

We chose Hotel Sissi based on the previous reviews and we were happy to discover a great value for money accommodation in central Budapest. It is located just at the edge of the tourist district so it gave us the opportunity to be on a walking distance from the main attractions and in same time, to find good local non touristic restaurants and shops. As others pointed out, the breakfast that was included in the price, was a nice surprise - i really enjoyed the cosy breakfast room by the garden and the good choice of products. Our room on the last floor was incredibly spacious - the biggest one we got in a central located hotel in Europe so far! - and also clean and tidy. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed for a single night in Budapest and choose the hotel for its reasonable price. The rooms were basic but clean and big enough! The walls were thin so you better not have a too noisy neighbor which was not the case for us. The personnel was nice and ready to help. You can enjoy the breakfast buffet n the interior terrase if the weather is good ! To summarise a very good hotel for short stays in Budapest for value!

The hotel is clean and correct...and that is about it. The hotel reception staff was not really helpful, going as far as refusing to call a taxi for us where we had a discount, because it is not the company they work with. Coming home I also had the bad surprise of being charged 10 euros extra for the room, no explanation given.
They will give you a smile yes, but don't expect more!

Dear Bryan350,
Thank you kindly for taking the time to share your experience with our Hotel Sissi.
The extra charge of 10€ seems me very strange. As far as we can investigate you did the payment with credit card with local currency. The 10€ can be different of exchange rate which is changing daily and sometime are differences very high. Unfortunately the exchange rate of local currency is behid hotel control.
Thank you for your understanding and sorry for this missunderstanding.
We will be happy to welcome you again in our hotel in future.

Got a good deal so wasn't expecting too much, but hotel was pretty nice. We have 3 people in a room so a little crowded but fine. Breakfast was ok, what you would expect.
Clean.
Location wasn't central but we got about ok.
Free wifi is a nice touch.
Reception staff were very helpful, but when we went to check out no one was on reception for 15 minutes so we ended up just leaving our keys!
