“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

The baths are VERY expensive and overrated. We could have missed this outing and not missed anything in Budapest. Would not return. They have a wave pool which was absolutely full when they started the waves- about hourly (I think).

“Nice place, awful service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

The baths are ok, clean. The staff is the most incompetent one I have ever seen. Especially the guy sitting at the counter downstairs. He has absolutely no idea how to help and is very disrespectful with tourists (not only with us but with others also). We had a problem with the bracelets (which don't all work) and with the lockers (again not working), and they wouldnt even want to help us, we just stood there for 40 minutes waiting for someone to come with the master bracelet. Completely ignored.
Also the young girl at the check-in wheel ... wow! That is the epitome of incompetence. Her superior told her to let us out, and she just left the place, leaving us there "trapped" for half an hour.

NOT RECOMMENDED!

“A rainy morning activity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

My friend and I were in Budapest for a few days and it was raining on one of them so we decided to go to the Gellert Spa. I am used to spas in the UK which are all about the relaxation, the aromatherapy and lovely smells. My opinion is that the spas in Budapest are more about the beneficial medical qualities they can provide as opposed to the luxury of other spas. The massages are in small cubicles, not glam at all! Overall, I would say that you should go because the thermal pools are lovely, warm and relaxing...once you get over the smell of rotten eggs caused by the healing minerals in the water!! And it is after all an experience which Budapest is famous for. The price is very reasonable so worth spending a morning or afternoon there. Take a book or magazine to keep you entertained when you're not in the baths.

“Worst service @ Gellert Spa”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Neglected other reviews and tried myself.
One big tourist trap, with complemantary shtty service.
Stayed for 5 minutes and left. Even asking where the exit was in this maze got me a sigh and directions to the women's changing rooms as it was the nearest door this spa worker was bothered to point at.

Can't be bothered to waste words on the other personnel as they surely didn't waste any on me.

There are plenty of reviews like this, and i heard it is a recent problem. Whoever is running the establishment now should consider long term profitability.

“Still like Széchenyi more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We had a good time here, i really liked the thermal pool areas, big pools and felt pretty cleas.

The saunas was so different, since both men and women went in to each others areas we tried them booth, the sauna in the mens area is so hot so you can´t sit in it, it was bright and all in all not that nice wile the one in the women area is amazing, pretty dark, nice "sofa" and so on.

In the big pool inside you have to where a simhat just so you know, the guards are to say the least very strict about this...

The pool outside we did´t really like, very much people and very noisy and not that big.

The food from the restaurant is ok, the service when it´s a rush is not that good, if possible try to wait a bit if you see it´s a lot of people waiting, it can take a lot of time.
