“Value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2010

The hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to Parliament and most Pest monuments; undergound is literally 2 minutes away and opposite is a shopping mall, supermarkets and quite a few restaurants. The room was very spacious, furniture quite basic but ok, bathroom was fine. TV was huge but only few channels available with only eurosports in english. staff was generally polite and helpful, even though the room maids speak no or little english. The breakfast was very basic but ok: in the end we paid 72 euros a day, 18 Euros per head which was peanuts...

Our stay was pretty comfortable, the place was clean too. Location was excellent, just outside the metro and train station. However, the wireless did not exist as promised for the 3 days we were there, although the receptionist said it was broken and was going to be fixed the day we left (how convenient). The continental breakfast was minimal but better than nothing.

The hotel ,while in a very good location beside the metro station, looked like a communist style building from the outside-vey ugly indeed. While the rooms were clean and warm they were very dark and drab. The breakfast was really awful and staff were v.unfriendly.

For a few extra euro you will have no problem finding a nicer hotel. This hotel is the PITS!!!!!!!

When we first pulled up outside the hotel we were a bit shell-shocked, as it looks quite rough and unwelcoming from the outside! The rooms are spacious and warm (the heating is always on) and very clean. Our room was cleaned every day. The staff are extremely helpful and speak good English. The breakfast is basic but again - the restaurant is clean. The location of the hotel is fantastic as you are just 2 mins from the City Centre,West End shopping centre, metro, station...........
We stayed at the Hotel Metro for 5 nights over New Year for only £200 B&B.
Overall a super hotel for the money.

Good location, on the Pest side of the city, not too far from the Szechenyi Bath and Spa, which was excellent!

The hotel is very basic, but it is clean, and the staff were very helpful. We met a few different workers there, obviously doing shifts, and each one spoke decent English and was able to help us out with sightseeing, etc.

The rooms are a good size, and the bathroom whilst rather plain, was clean also.

There was a nice full length mirror just inside the wardrobe door.

Breakfast is again, very basic, but all the food was covered over. The 'restaurant' is located on the floor above the reception desk, and is a small area, with 4 tables.

I would go back to this hotel, we only paid £45.00 for two nights in a double room, bed and breakfast. Can't complain really!!!

  • Liked — Size of room, hotel staff
  • Disliked — nothing really
  • Tips/Secrets — you may need to turn radiators off - it get's very warm in the rooms!

I stayed here for 3 nights in total. The rooms are quite spacious, clean and very warm (they have the heating on all the time). when you first pull up to the hotel it doesn't inspire you with much hope as it looks very rough from the outside. but inside it gets better, whilst it is by no means the hilton, its clean and the people there are helpful enough. the decoration is dated but if you want a budget hotel then this is good enough.

breakfast is included and consists of bread, cereal, cheese and salami meat with tea, coffee and cordial. so its basic but is good enough. the bathrooms are clean however after a shower the water does leak onto the floor a bit from the drain but it isnt really a problem as putting a towel there will soak it up.

overall i'd recommend this hotel but just bear in mind it is a budget hotel so if you a expecting something fancy you ain't going to get it. but there is nothing i'd say that is particularly wrong with it. the location is good and it satisfied my needs. enjoy
