Roosevelt Square is a busy intersection in downtown Budapest, near the Basilica of St. Istvan. There are some beautiful buildings surrounding the Square, such as the Gresham Palace Hotel, and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, not to mention the Szechenyi Chain Bridge. Crossing the Chain Bridge to head over to Buda or up to Castle Hill is a must, and seeing these gorgeous buildings in the Square is also a must. It's just too bad that it's such a busy area of town with few crosswalks, cars zipping by paying little or no attention to pedestrians, and a big ugly casino flanking one side of the square. While crossing the bridge on foot is a must, and while seeing buildings like the Gresham Palace is also a must, it's not the most pedestrian or photo-friendly part of town. Plan on having to dodge crazy drivers and take in the sights while trying not to get run over. :)
