“Carmen at the Hungarian State Opera House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We went to see Carmen last Friday - it was an amazing performance and a great way to see the Opera House. We arrived early and so could look around and take photos before the performance. The seats are amazing value for such high quality music. Do dress up - you won't feel out of place in smart clothes! A definite must for all music lovers.

“An incredible venue, great performance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

I was blown away by the beauty of this magnificent building. This is a true temple of art -- inside and out. Your fellow opera-goers will be well-dressed and well-behaved, so pack a nice suit or frock, switch off your phone, and be transported deep into the story. I saw Hunyadi László and despite not knowing any Hungarian, with the help of the surtitles, I followed everything. A great show with terrific singing. If you can get a ticket for a show here, any show, I would say it is highly worth it.

“Stunning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

My husband and I visited the Opera House to see Carmen. The building itself is so beautiful. Golden statues, cherubs painted on the ceiling. A large chandelier in the middle. The queens box is really neat. We were seated in a box in the front row-thank goodness! I don't know what I would have done if we were behind the woman behind me. I don't think I could have seen! The opera itself was wonderful, and when it ended we tried to get downstairs to take a picture. We barely had time before they turned out the lights and ushered us out. They were nice about it, but it would be nice to have some time to do that. They offer tours, but if you're seeing something it probably covers most of it. Priced very well too!

“Gorgeous Architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

unfortunately, we were unable to book for a concert, as it was completely sold out, but the building itself gives the Royal Opera House in London a run for its money!

Just SIMPLY stunning

“Laszlo Hunyadi ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

First opera we have seen, we did not think we would stay for it all but we did!
English translation made it for us, was like subtitles above stage and enabled us to follow the story. 2 intervals also broke up the evening. We had isle seats in the top circle at the front which is a must so you can see but be aware the centre batch of seats have limited leg room. Overall we were really pleased we made the effort. One more point we were on a weekend break so did not take over smart clothes this was ok others were in jeans or casuals but the majority were in smart.
