“A pleasant and informative day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

My husband and I spent a whole afternoon in the Castle Hill District which is located on the Buda side of the Danube River. It offers scenic historic walks. We used a Hop-on Hop-off bus to get there. The Castle District is a part of Budapest's Heritage Site. Castle Hill offers medieval buildings and Barogue cobblestone streets. There are great views of the city, the Danube, and surrounding countryside. This area was reduced to rubble during World War II and is now restored. While we were there we visited Matthias Catholic Church that we found worthwhile.
We also got to watched the changing of the Guards at the offices of the President which was interesting and entertaining.

“Beautiful area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Wonderful architecture surrounded by cobbled streets and amazing views over the city. Lots of photo opportunities. Make sure you have a good walk around and don't just stick to the main area by the Fisherman's Bastion. 'Eyewitness Travel' gives you a nice little walking route around it which pretty much covers it all. Had lunch at a nice little cafe on the defensive walls overlooking the city. A must see area when in Budapest.

We used the funicular to go up to the castle and then , having looked around the area we walked down through the grounds back to the Chain Bridge.
