The rooms was a good size, the bathrooms too. Breakfast is ok, not fantastic but not bad either. It was not included in the room, and we thought it was a bit too expensive. There are other better breakfast options nearby, in both taste and price.
The location is the best thing about this hotel, smack in the middle of everything!

I spent two nights here on business, in mid-January 2013. The hotel is in a fantastic location on Váci Utca, the main shopping street in Central Budapest, and only a minute on foot from the Danube. The famous Chain Bridge is less than 10 mins walk away. The major brand shops are all located here (C&A, Zara, M&S, Mango, Esprit, H&M etc), and a decent selection of restaurants, including a McDonald's in the next street.

The hotel itself is very clean, with a smart lobby and bar/restaurant area as you enter. The rooms themselves are a little dated, but clean enough. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room, and no irons - you have use the 3" x 6" ironing "cell" located along the corridor, for which you'll need your key card to turn on the iron. My bathroom was shower only. Ideally I'd have liked a tub, but the shower was very hot and powerful.

My one complaint about the room was that it was a little chilly. There's a heating control on the wall, but the "Hot/Cold" switch has been removed, with a sticker saying "Cold Only" stuck on. During my visit there was unusually heavy snow, and sub-zero temperatures. With the lack of heating, the ambient temperature of the room was not enough to keep the chill at bay, particularly overnight.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They booked my taxis in advance for both days, and took time to search for my destination on Google maps, to calculate how long the journey would be. The bar staff were very also polite and attentive. I ate in the bar restaurant both nights. The menus are a bit odd, with some slightly curious on-plate combinations, but the food arrived within 15 mins of ordering, and was very nicely presented. For some reason they brought my food down in the customer elevator, which explained why it had smelt of food when I used it earlier in the day.

Breakfast was included, and is a help-yourself selection of cold meats, cereal, fruit, bread etc. The breakfast room has a bow window looking out onto the Váci Utca, so you can have a nose at the goings-on outside as you eat.

All in all, a good hotel which could benefit from some refurbishment in the guest rooms, but clean and very well located for anything in central Budapest. About 25 mins from the airport by taxi.

NB - A word of warning to anyone visiting Budapest - beware of women on the Váci Utca asking you for directions, then inviting you to go for a drink with them. I went for a 20 min walk to take a look at the Danube and check out some menus in the neighbouring restaurants, during which I was approached three times by girls using the same, "I was meant to meet my friend somewhere. Do you know the way to ...? No? Well I know a bar nearby, why don't we have a drink?" modus operandi. Don't be flattered - It's a scam, in which they lure unsuspecting travellers to a bar, where they'll help you run up a bill of hundreds of pounds, with surly thugs ensuring you pay up.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views onto the Váci Utca if possible. Ask for a bathroom with a tub if you want...

The location of this hotel is fantastic in terms of being central and close to the action in the Pest side of the city, it's within walking distance of some great sites.
The rooms are clean and tidy, but small. Despite it being November and pretty cold outside, the air conditioning didn't function effectively and the room became almost unbearably hot during the night. The breakfast buffet was decent, with plenty of options. The biggest complaint I would have about this place is the noise. The glazing on the window is not sufficient to keep the noise of louder revelers at bay. This often meant being woken at ridiculous times of the morning. If we were to go again, this is probably not a place we'd choose to stay again simply because the quality of sleep you can achieve, due to noise levels and the poor airconditioning is less than ideal.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms in terms of noise.

Dear Clare P,
Thank you for your remark regarding your stay in our hotel. Our hotel has a very good location in Váci street as you mentioned in your comment. The only 4-star hotel in Budapest being surrounded by walking street. We are really sorry for the inconvenience regarding the sound-proofing and air-conditioining, please allow me to express my apologies. We hope we can have the chance to welcome you again.

The hotel is located in the very center, in a pedestrian area. That proved to be a challenge for us, as we came by car and could not reach the hotel in any way indicated by the GPS. Knowing though that the hotel has a private parking, we parked our car in a nearby underground parking and walked to the hotel. At first, the staff at the reception told us to leave the car in the underground parking. However, when we argued that it is double as cost (not to mention far from the hotel), they found someone to come and guide us. It would have been nicer to do so in the first place. Room was ok, nice beds, big windows, toilet separated from the bathroom. However, the sewer-like smell in the toilet was awful and could barely resist there for few minutes. The breakfast was decent but not great. Only one English language TV program in the room, the rest were in Hungarian and German. WI-FI signal was very poor. The parking was outside, in a courtyard, with few places that provided cover for cars, and it was quite expensive for such conditions. Good for a short stay, mainly due to location.

This is the second time that we were staying in this hotel. I have written a review about our prior stay and there was nothing to complain about. We stayed as privilege guests and everything was just fine, from price to room and staff. But this time things were not that peachy.

They charged our credit card 2 weeks prior to our arrival date even though booking.com guaranties that no money will be charged upfront. It is outrageous. We even got there earlier so there was no mistake about certainty of our coming (which after all wasn't even a case, since they charged it way before, but we couldn't know that at the time, only after we got bank report for that month).

We booked 2 rooms, smoking for our friends and no smoking for us, but we got both smoking. Our room was smelling like sewers and a bathroom sink was clogged, water kept coming back. There was no proper bathtub. We immediately called reception and they changed our room with no question (as if they knew they made a mistake).

New room was much better, BUT even though we booked a double bed room, we got a twin bed room. We complained again, but apparently there wasn't any double rooms left. Beds were very uncomfortable, with lumps and dents. I can not say it wasn't clean, but some parts of furniture were dusty (lamps, door frames...). It is odd that every standard room has one more door. I assume that are connecting door to neighbor room. It was locked but, if I can say, little disturbing anyway.

For the price that we payed, which was much higher during holiday season than usual, these mistakes shouldn't happen. It was pricey as it is, and with all that errors it wasn't good value for the money at all. It looks like only the privilege guests (and above) get their full attention.

PS. We came by car this time and I must mention the parking which is great. It is connected with hotel lobby and not hard to find (we did have help of GPS though). It is however pretty expensive.

Location, location, location. Right in the middle of Vaci St., close to the Danube and its bridges leading to the Buda Castle, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and the Great Market Hall. Within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and the historical part of Budapest. Rooms are small, yet clean. Not too fancy, but hen, the price is reasonable.
