“absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

we stayed at the hotel for three nigths, and it was an unforgettable experience, the hotel is exceptionaly well situated near the main attractions, it has the most magnificent views in all Budapest, it may not be cheap but a room with a view to the Danube it's money well spent.
The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable with all the amenities you could possibly need, the vip lounge offers a great breakfast and snacks during the whole day.
The staff are competent and friendly, from the concierge to the doormen, and our special thanks to Bogi and Barbi from the Vip Lounge on the eighth floor who were outstandingly helpfull and kind.
we would definitely stay again a this hotel.

I stayed there for three days (23 to 26th of June 2011)

THe internet was not working and when I complained they just said me the wifi at my room was not working and the cable was with a problem. They did not offer me a changing of room. I was in the Junior Suite and nothing was done to solve my problem.
The bathroom was dirty, with black points all around the shower area.
The aisle of my floor one day was completely dirty and no one was cleaning it up.

I would not advice anyone to stay there.

And the worst thing was when I complained to the staff and they just did not care at all. They just smile you and turn their back to you. No helpful at all.

I have stayed in many Sofitel's and although this wasn't all bad, it certainly isn't up to the usual high standard. Rooms a bit tired, lifts very slow, food very average. The location was good to be able to walk around the squares and shopping streets in Pest

This has a great location, right opposite the Chain Bridge, making it easy to explore all parts of the city. As you'd expect from a Sofitel, the lobby and communal areas are sleek and smart, Our room was clean and pleasant, though not up to the same standard as other hotels in the Sofitel chain (though, as always with Sofitels, the bed was very comfy). The breakfasts are expensive (at around €27 a head). There are much better value coffee shop options within a short walk of the hotel. Overall, we recommend this hotel.

At the end of our Danube River cruise we stayed in Budapest at the Sofitel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did have to change our room because the phones didn't work, but that really wasn't a big problem. The hotel is right on the Danube River in the heart of the Pest area - across the river from the castle. We were right in the middle of a great area to walk around and explore. There are many wonderful restaurants and cafes in the area. The hotel restaurant was very good. A very nice breakfast was provided evryday until 11 AM (good for late sleepers).
The Basilica of St Stephen was beautiful.

Just had three nights at Sofitel Chainbridge. Upgraded room to a river view which was well worth the extra money to wake up to such a perfect view every morning! We were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and we were pleasantly surprised by the bottle of champagne that was ready on ice when we entered our room- Nice touch! We used the gym & swimming pool everyday which was nice and quiet. Staff were very helpful and polite. We never ate in the hotel as there were so many restaurants in the near vacinity which we all good. The hotel is in such an excellent location to explore Buda and Pest and is close to the tram/metro stations. There was so much to see and do that we will have to go back again and we would definately stay at the Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge Hotel.
