“Wonderful small hotel, Buda side”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

With a superb view of the Danube we enjoyed every minute of our time at the Hotel Victoria in Budapest. Located on the Buda side, this hotel is within walking distance to all the delights to be found in Budapest.

This recently renovated hotel is top notch! The rooms are 5 star, full breakfast included with made to order eggs / omelets, juice, coffee, cereals, cold cuts, and more. Get a room facing the Danube! Your view of the Chain Bridge and Parliament is unequaled. You will be within easy walking distance of small local restaurants with excellent food and views and reasonable prices. 10 minutes takes you across the "Chain Bridge" into the "Pest" side of the city ( your hotel is on the "Buda" side). Lots to see and do - Markets, sightseeing, food along the Danube. OK, the Danube is BROWN. Get over it, that's the way it is. It's still beautiful.

We stayed at the Hotel Victoria 2 years ago and then just returned from a second stay. This hotel is a gem, it sits right on the Danube River. They just refurbished all of the rooms. Our corner room had a view of the Chain Bridge out one window and the Parliament Building out of the other. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good and the omelets are outstanding. The hotel is located on the Buda side of the river with a view of the Pest side. The location is close to all public transportation and it is easy to get around. Outstanding value for the money. This is a great Boutique hotel, we will return again one day !

Room Tip: We had room 81, eighth floor, corner room.

There are so many great things to say about this hotel - to start with, every room has a view of the Danube (instead of paying more for such a room like most hotels), the location is excellent for access to cruises along the river and is only 10 or so minutes (steep but invigorating) walk up to Buda's stunning St Matthias Church and more awesome views over Budapest, the hotel's just one tram stop from Batthyanya Square which gets you onto the Metro and suburban rail, there's some fantastic bars and restaurants (like Carne Di Hall) just minutes away, and the rooms have wifi. But better than all of this is the hotel's staff who made us feel very welcome from the word go. They were enthusiastic, friendly and incredibly helpful too, providing advice about our airport transfer booking, great recommendations for restaurants, best baths to go to (and one 'to forget about'!), and making dinner reservations for us - nothing was an effort at all. That level of care is something that we've not really experienced in big hotels or chain hotels, and that's the point about Hotel Victoria; it's small enough that you get the personal touch - and that's worth so much - in fact, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when visiting Budapest again!

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor (the top) which had a small balcony, which meant the room was a bit smaller...

Arriving at the Victoria after a 9 hour train journey we were given a warm welcome, and were looked after very well throughout our stay by all the staff. Our room on the 6th floor had stunning views across to the Parliament and south taking in the Danube and the major bridges, all illuminated at night. The hotel identifies itself as a boutique hotel and the bedroom certainly lived up to that with a stylish interior, huge and hugely comfortable bed, mood lighting and an elegant bathroom. The bar area where breakfast is held is cosy, though the style (faux art noveau) doesn't match the stylish rooms. Breakfast choices are modest for a 4*, but the omelettes and scrambled eggs are delicious! Buy yourselves a Budapest card and you can hop on and off the tram & bus which stop outside the hotel or walk up to the metro to travel north/south in Buda or cross over to Pest.

Room Tip: The higher up - top being 8th floor - the better the views. All rooms face onto the Danube.

My husband and I were looking for a romantic get away to Budapest and we found everything we needed at the Hotel Victoria and much more. This very personal hotel is located right on the Danube with spectacular views of the Parliament. The breakfast was outstanding and the service impeccable !! The rooms were very clean and spacious-the only hotel I have ever stayed at with excellent closet space for 2 people or even three. The beds were very comfortable. An added luxury was the on site presence of the "Jeno Hubay" historic concert hall where you could have afternoon tea or see violin concerts. The front desk was very accommodating in everyway. This hotel goes out of their way to please their customers. We will most definitely return to this hotel which I feel represents the "Heart of Budapest".

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the Parliament. All the rooms are wonderful.

Wow, what a view! The Victoria Hotel in Budapest offers one of the most spectacular views in Eastern Europe. Not only that, throw in a comprehensive breakfast , high tea in two gorgeous rooms, and Lazlo at reception. Lazlo was a great help to us in getting taxi's , suggesting restaurants, and helping us get around in this most beautiful of cities.

Room Tip: Make sure you book well ahead as this hotel only has 26 rooms!
