The Delibab Hotel has to be the best value in Budapest. Ignore some of the negative reviews below. In a city as beautiful & vibrant as Budapest just how much time does one want to spend in a hotel room? Ok, the walls are a bit on the thin side (behave or be brazen!) & no, there are no hair driers in the rooms. Big deal. It's clean & the staff alone are worth visiting for. It's location on Hero's Square means the,National Gallery, Museum, Ice skating & Baths are under five minutes walk away. It's modest but cosy with oodles of charm & hospitality of a bygone age.

Have just returned from a 3-day break at the Delibab. Didn't quite know what to expect, having read the mixed reviews beforehand, but found it to be fine.
The key plus points are the friendly reception staff, who were happy to help with any queries ~ the tidy and functional bedrooms ~ the close proximity of the hotel to the metro line ~ the reasonable breakfast selection(for the price)with egg, sausage, cereals, hams, cheese, yoghurts, toast.
On the downside, the hotel walls were paper thin with us being able to hear both snoring and the TV in 'surround sound'~ the beds are quite short for any one over 5'10"~ there are no hairdryers in the rooms, although one may be borrowed from Reception ~ if you have a room facing Heroes Square, the traffic is quite noisy, despite 'double-glazing'.
Don't think I'd stop there again, purely because of the super-thin walls - which may be an advantage if you have friends in an adjoining room, as you could have a conversation with them without leaving your own!!

Hotel Delibab is a good, clean 3 star hotel, with friendly staff. The location is very good, not in the city centre but only a few metro stops away. The metro is just a few yards from the hotel so really convenient for getting around the city.

We went on a budget break to Budapest, this hotel is not expensive and you do get what you pay for. It ticked all my boxes of being central, clean and friendly.

Great location but what a drab hotel, only stay there if you are planning to be out and about, don't plan to spend any time in your room. Our Rooms were on the third floor - 6 flights of stairs no lift or help with the luggage, we were also at the front traffic noise all through the night although to be fair after the first night we did get used to it and we kept the windows shut which would have been impossible in hot weather. Breakfast was fine except the coffee was always cold, they did replenish everything right upto the end of breakfast and the only things that ran out was the nicest bread. It is a cheap hotel but costs more than a travelodge in the uk which are a in a different league. Didn't spoil our trip but wouldn't recommend it.

Just got back after a seven day stay at the "Delibab" and I have to say the ambience is just so drab.

When you arrive at the tiny reception it is dark and gloomy.

Our room was somewhat depressing, overlooking the main thoroughfare which made it extremely noisy, the sheets were grey, "the pillow" extremely thin and there were washed in stains on my sheet.

The toilet stopped working properly on three occasions and the shower tray was chipped and was covered in black scratches.

On a more positive note though the location was good and it was easy to access all areas of Budapest.

For a seven night stay I would not recommend this hotel it would only okay for the shortest short stay possible like one night!

Also on a safety note, I noticed the fire extinguisher was not in its holder at our side of the corridor and there was no fire escape. The directions shown on the back of the door only direct you to the main staircase, which could be a bit of a problem if you are situated too far away from it.

Also with all the wood panelling in the hotel, this safety issue needs to be addressed.

We had two days of rain and it would have been great to relax with a good book until the weather improved but the hotel is not conducive to comfort.
