“Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2009

Hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood in Budapest. It is directly on the Metro line that travels underneath Andrassy Ut which makes it very convenient. Interior is very nice and the rooms are beautifully decorated. Our room included a quiet and private deck. Bathroom was large and comfortable with nice bathrobes and great, big towels.

The front desk staff were wonderful and very helpful - we enjoyed the free champagne upon check in.

Two computers in lobby available for internet.

The restaurant hotel is very expensive but quite good. They also have a beautiful bar/patio that we didn't take advantage of but was quite nice looking. The breakfast was very nice - a large selection of items and they were willing to cook eggs to order or make you a cappuccino.

Would definitely stay here again - although I know that our travel agent got us a much better rate than what was posted in the hotel. For history buffs, the hotel has an interesting history as a place many of the communist leaders would stay before it was renovated in the Mamaison Andrassy.

The accommodations and services were outstanding. The staff was very professional, attentive and engaging at all times. The perfect property. We were upgraded at check in and received a room facing Andrassy Utca. Nestlled among embasys it felt very old world and minutes from the metro. Just what we were looking for on our last leg of the trip. 100% deserving of the listing in SLH.

We loved it. Will definitely recommmend this hotel to family and friends.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely superb. Discrete, helpful, efficient and very polite. All of them spoke good English.

I personally wouldn't call it a 5 star hotel as some of the little details let it down e.g. thin towels and no tea / coffee making facilities, no iron, bathroom a little on the disappointing side etc. The bar closes at 11.30pm which was a bit of a shame. That being said, the room was very clean, spacious and quiet despite being so close to the main road, the bed was huge and very comfortable and the mini bar was well stocked. The restaurant was stunning.

Location-wise this is only a short walk to Heroes Square, a few tube stops out of town and there's plenty to do on the Andrassy Avenue. I'd recommend it to anyone for the price we paid.

We found this to be such a LOVELY hotel that when it came time to leave, we didn't want to go. We did have some trouble at the start with regards to our booking, however, this was something that Expedia and the hotel needed to sort out I believe. Right up until the day before we left, it was still not sorted out but Krisztina (who works for the hotel), assured us that all was well and that we did not have to worry about our stay – the room will be provided as requested. It was a very assuring and welcoming message and we left London really looking forward to our holiday in Budapest (which was nearly spoilt by this issue, if you would like details, please feel free to email me).

Right from the start, the service was excellent. We arrived quite late, about 1.00am. The man at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. We were checked into a smoking room though we did request non smoking but were quickly changed over to a spacious and comfortable non smoking room on the 4th Floor. No fuss and was quickly done too. The front desk was always very helpful and quick with their response to our requests. The staff at the hotel I found to be very friendly and helpful and very professional. Made our stay so much more enjoyable!!

The location of the hotel is quite a distance from the centre but the metro isn't far from the hotel at all and we used it alot. We even bought metro tickets from the hotel which saves the hassle of trying to work out how to use those machines at the station. Tip - a daily ticket lasts for 24 hours which is very handy if you didn't want to commit to a 3 day metro ticket. But the hotel is close to Heroes Sq and to the Szenchenyi baths (two stops away on the metro but also very walkable, we were just lazy), which was a PLUS for us.

We really loved staying in this hotel and want to thank the staff for all their help and professional and courteous service! It really made our trip to Budapest very enjoyable and comfortable. Thank you! We hope to be back soon!

Our son was married in Budapest on the same weekend as the Hungarian Grand Prix, when all hotels were very busy. We had stayed at the Andrassy in 2008 (after reading the recommendations on Trip Advisor) and were impressed with the service, so booked again for 6 nights. The hotel offered us a special rate as we were a group of 10 family and friends, and from the moment we checked in the staff were exceptionally helpful in organising transport to the venue, sorting out a dinner table for 14 at two hours' notice, making restaurant and taxi bookings, giving directions, passing messages - and the final challenge! - finding a box large enough to take home as hold luggage a rocking horse given as a wedding present! It is a quiet hotel, away from the downtown bustle, but we and other guests in our group found it very easy to get around the city from the metro station 200m away, for which the Reception staff can sell books of tickets and give explanations. Now that we have in-laws in the city, I expect we shall use the Andrassy regularly when we come over to visit.

It is nice to be greeted every day by name in a foreign country. It is fantastic when everyone goes out of their way to make this, your first stay, truly memorable. The Andrassy was one of the, if not "the", best hotel we've ever stayed with in terms of service, quality, and value.
Istivan, Attilla, Peter, Julius, and many others all went out of their way to take care of our every need. I need to especially mention Krisztina Toth, in the reservations dept, who helped us make dining reservations (spot on), opera tickets, and immense help with train travel (train and opera tickets were awaiting us upon check in). This staff WAS the best we've ever met. English was not a problem for anyone (though all Hungarians have an amazing capacity for English).
We stayed for five nights with the Andrassy and three nights with the Mariott. Both hotels were excellent in their own way, but the Andrassy was unmatched with their people. It is a smaller hotel, and personalized service goes a long, long way.
Yes, we were given a glass of champagne upon check in, and a bottle awaited us because it was my birthday. Small things go a long way (again).
I will rave to anyone about the Andrassy.
The Baraka restaurant was also excellent. Never had their breakfast, but did have a lunch and dinner. Their breads are incredible.

p.s. - our deluxe room was bigger than the Marriott's executive rooms, and the bathrooms were far, far bigger
p.p.s. - walk the entire Andrassy. It is less than five minutes to Hero's square and twenty minutes to the Danube.
