“In Budapest center, view on the Danube”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2010

Stayed for onle few hours so I have not had time to enjoy fully the hotel and its surrounding. I had a room with view on Danube. Though the hotel is on the city center, it was very quiet. Spacious room. Maybe some efforts could be done on bathroom decoration.
Friendly staff. Hotel can arrange pick up at hotel if you need.

I just came back from a 1 1/2 week trip to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest and the Marriott in Budapest was the biggest disappointment. The only plus I can think of for this hotel is the amazing view and proximity to the Danube. Other than that, the rooms are NOT relaxing, the rooms feel old and have horrible florescent lighting, and male concierge was utterly useless. We asked for some help getting around and he was not able to provide any useful information. The other hotels we stayed at in Prague and Vienna offered free internet and many other amenities, none of which was available at this Marriott. If I ever go back to Budapest I will definitely be using another hotel.

This is a very nice hotel and the views are fantastic. The location is great, close to everything. There are lots of resturants to walk to in the area. The Metro is close too. The staff was very helpful allowing me to check in early and in providing directions.

There is a small store across the street which sells water, beer, wine, snacks etc. if you want to avoid the high prices of the mini-bar.

Note that there are two Marriott properties in the area. This is the full service hotel and it should not be confused with the other which are Executive Apartments.

Traveled with 5 friends to Eastern Europe and booked the Marriott using points. It was a great hotel- especially since we were on the Club level (the breakfast, snacks, and drinks are amazing!) The location was great- an easy walk to nearly everywhere. Staff was friendly and knowledgable.

a note- though the website states only 2 ppl per room, there was ample space for us to have 3 in a room without any trouble.

I know it's not very imaginative to recommend a Marriott but in this case it's an excellent choice. The location is excellent (two blocks form the major square and the Metro), the room very comfortable with a beautiful view of the river and the Buda hills and castles. You can easily walk to the bridges. The room rate was quite reasonable and the breakfasts were just what you wanted. The staff was courteous and very helpful. There are no negatives.
Tip: the taxis standing outside the hotel are expensive. Have the desk call a cab, we used Zona to and from the airport.

Hotel offered typical Marriott quality. Additionaly, it's beafutifully located on Danube riverside. Many of the city's most famous attractions and lots of restaurants are within walking distance.
As usually in Marriott, breakfast are massive, and what was important for me, they are served noticeably longer hours during weekend so no need to get out of bed early! Unless someone from the staff gives you unordered wake up call at 8am what happened to me one day. Also, when I was trying to extend my stay for another week, it turned out the the hotel is fully booked on one day, which should make the receptionist offer me some help with finding a replacement, but all she did was making an apology.

Every aspect of the this hotel made us happy. Booking online and then changing that booking online a couple of weeks before to add one day was easy. Check in was quick and easy, the room was larger than expected. The bed, bedding, and furniture were all very comfortable, one of the best nights sleep in a hotel we have had. Bathroom was well appointed and the view was good. They say that you can see the Budapest Castle from any room, we doubted that as we could only just, and we were in a much better place than others. We ate at the restaurant and ordered room service, which share the same menu a number of times and it was well priced and good food. The night before check out we asked to be allowed an extra hour to check out and we were able to easily. Great location for many attractions and had a great view of the river.
