“Great views and locations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2005

Rooms: Pleasant but way too small. Families travelling here must be aware that there are apparently no rooms with two double beds, only king and 2 twins.
Beds: Average. Pillows were not comfortable but additional softer ones can be requested from housekeeping.
Views: Fantastic. All rooms have views on the Danube. Balcony was large enough to sit out. Great sunset views.
Room Service: Food average, prices reasonable
Restaurant: same as room service
Staff: a little cold but very professional and efficient
Location: Perfect for tourists, close to all tourist site, and to shopping area. There is a premium grocery store just next to the hotel.
Transport: did not use public transport. the hotel is walking distance from all main tourist sites. took a shuttle from the airport.
Breakfast: did not have breakfast here. There is a mcdonald's just around the corner.
Internet Access: Wireless Internet in the lobby overpriced as in all Marriotts in Europe. worked well though. No LAN or wireless in the room.

Overall this is a very good hotel that's ugly on the outside but very welcoming inside. Its location makes it perfect for tourists. Would give it five stars if the rooms were larger and if it offered rooms witih two double beds.
Budapest is a beautiful city. Would stay here again if I was to return.

We stayed at the Marriott in May 2005 for 6 nights. We had a nice room with the most beautiful view of the Royal Palace.
We traveled with our 1 year old baby and the hotel provided a crib and free milk on request.
The room service is excellent and the restaurant and beer garden are pretty good too. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is perfectly located with stuning views of the Buda side and there is great shopping just 3 min walk. The "market" is only about a 10min walk from the hotel and you can find some good girfs and souveniers.
The breakfast buffet has a large selection. At the lobby there is a daily cake buffet, try it at least once with a cappuchino.
The only negative we have is that the hotel offers internet connection via dial up connection, We had our laptop but the rates are very high. your best bet is to use the business center located next to the lobby. You must purchase a internet card or simply go to an internet cafe around the area.
Overall our stay at the Marriott was perfect. If we return to Budapest, the Marriott will be our hotel of choice.
