“Great view and good size room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

I stayed here for a week in mid July. The view of the river was really nice. The room was a good size and everything was very clean. The check in was really quick. I ate at the hotel a few times and the food was really nice. Sometimes in the lobby bar would take awhile for someone to come over and ask if you wanted anything. The bed was very comfortable and internet worked fine.

This is a "no bells and whistles" hotel. All the basics are provided, and the service is good. The location is excellent .

The bathroom seemed a little old, and would probably need to be spruced up a bit in the near future.

Budapest is an amazing city and this Marriott property is perfectly located. You always know what to expect from a Marriott and this is no exception. However as a Marriott frequent guest I can tell you that this particular property is special.

The lounge on the ninth floor gives you one of the most amazing views and all of Budapest. You have almost a 360° view.

Like every Marriott the rooms are in perfect condition. The Internet is great and the hotel understands if you borrow the towels to go to one of the bathhouses in Budapest. You just have to bring them back.

The prices are more than fair at this property as well especially when compared to other hotels in Europe.

Because of the location of this hotel you can walk a lot of places.

I intend to go back here again.

Room Tip: all he rooms have a view.

This hotel has possibly the best location in Budapest, right on the Danube and designed to offer panoramic views from all rooms. We were fortunate in having a corner room affording views in both directions up and down the river, however, the room itself was in need of an update. Also, for a room at this price, and of this size, the size and amenity of the bathroom was ridiculous. The bathroom was far too compact, you couldn't even use the WC without ensuring that the door was fully closed, and the shower over a narrow bath was very awkward for any but the fittest person. However, the executive lounge, with outdoor terrace and panoramic windows, on the ninth floor, provided a wonderful experience and a handy place to relax after a busy day seeing the sights. Beware of laundry prices - already far, far too expensive they increase by 50% on weekends, a fact only shown in fine oprint on the bottom of the form. Also they insist on using iron on labels which deform the garment material and leave a black ink stain when removed. Housekeeping service was slack - our room was usually not serviced before 4.00 pm and on one occasion the maid could not get clean towels for us - five star????

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with lounge access

This was the nicest stop we had on our recent two week swing thru Europe. Luxury and a great view. I do try to stay in more typical hotels when I travel to Europe but sometimes wait until my second trip to do so. In this case, never having been to Budapest and not speaking a word of Hungarian ( couldn't even seem to muster a thank-you in the vernacular) I opted for familiar ground. Wow. What a great choice. Located right on the banks of the Danube, it was within walking distance to several great attractions including the Danube boat rides which were right outside the front door. This was by far the nicest Marriott I have ever stayed in, wonderful in every way.
The beds were comfortable beyond imagination. I am a Marriott Rewards Gold member so I had access to the Concierge lounge with free cocktails, beer and wine and free h'ordeuvres. There was an equally lovely breakfast served there as well. The view from that venue was utterly fantastic especially at night. Our room was on the top floor, the 10th, and the view from there was equally great.
We had a bit of a mix up with a tour we booked thru the hotel which was NOT the fault of the hotel but they took care of it quickly and with grace. We had dinner in the hotel one evening as I didn't want to leave Hungary without eating some goulash. Delicious! We also, I am sad to admit, partook of the pastry bar, an all you can eat dessert bar in the main room downstairs. Lots of goodies to be had, served with coffee and champagne. Can't beat that!
All in all, a lovely hotel. I wold highly recommend and would also be my first choice for a return visit.

Room Tip: Request a high floor facing the Danube.

We arrived at 8:00 PM and our check in did not go smoothly. Although they had oversold the rooms and were not sure if they could give us the room we had booked months before, an on-the-ball Reception Clerk saved the day and made sure they gave us a room. Additionally he compensated us for our wait with vouchers for the Executive Lounge during our stay. Our room had a beautiful view of the Danube. The Executive lounge has a great terrace overlooking the Danube and the breakfast buffet there was delicious. The location is walking distance to many places of interest. This hotel surpassed my expectations.

I stayed here for a few nights on business and i was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located right on the river and the view from room was simply stunning, especially at night. The hotel staff was friendly and the rooms where clean. The rooms where a bit small and the hotel does have a bit of a dated feel if you compare it to modern marriott hotels but nothing disturbing. The best thing about this hotel is the bar and terrace. They are right on the river boulevard and it's close to shopping, restaurants and some of the sights. If you like to run than this is a good place to start from as well as you can run on the boulevard on both sides of the river. It's good value and a good place to enjoy Budapest.
