“Brilliant Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Rooms were great and extremely clean and well presented all with a view of the Danube and situated in the most perfect position to shop, sight see and enjoy the river.

Breakfast was great and the Chef kindly did me poached eggs even though they weren't on the menu!!!

Only reason I have not said excellent is beacuse the front desk were less than helpful when it came to advising the best places to eat.

Room Tip: We had a standard double room, overlooking the Danube and it was perfect

Stayed here for 2 nights, waking up to a wonderful view of Buda. Although near the city center, the rooms are quiet and comfortable. Ordered room service and got something different but the room attendant was very nice and took everything back and made sure I got what I ordered. The front desk was just as helpful. Buffet breakfast had a lot of choice. Good location too.

Stayed at this hotel for a city break and loved it. The reason I have marked it only 4 is that we had to telephone reception early one evening when we returned to the hotel as the maid forgot to clean our room. The situation was rectified immediately but the shower had to be put on hold for 30 mins. No big deal really. This hotel offers excellent views on the Danube and the higher the floor the better the view. There is an executive lounge on the 9th floor which you can pay extra to use and to be honest at 55 euros per room per night is well worth it, the two of us enjoyed lovely views from the high terrace, drinks included and a small but sufficient buffet included, followed by the included breakfast the next morning. The hotel itself it not very appealing to look at from the outside but once inside is just lovely. The tram line runs right next to the hotel but there is hardly any noise and so not off putting. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms well appointed. Location wise this hotel is excellent and a very short walk to the 'Chain Bridge' which you can cross to go to the Buda side. If I were to go to Budapest again I would most certainly stay again.

Room Tip: The higher the floor you stay on the better the view

We have stayed at this hotel already three times, and I'd definitely recommend this place to stay over the X - mas time... Few steps from the city centre and x-mas mall, delicious cuisine... We have always stayed at the corner suite with a wonderful view...

The hotel has a very friendly front desk staff, lounge of the hotel is very spacious with enough seats for the guests. They have a huge option in breakfast buffet and the rooms are clean with comfy pillows and bed. The location is very good... its near the shopping area and the market. It gives a breathtaking view of the bridges and the Palace across a very peaceful Danube river especially at night. I just hope they can improve their free WIFI service coverage which is limited to 3 hours in the lobby.

This hotel is up to the usual high standards of a Marriott. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a lovely large bed and superb views over the River Danube. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we'd ever had with a huge range of options. The location of the hotel was very central and within walking distance of all the sights.

While I ordinarilly would stay at a local hotel, I had Marriott points to use and I am glad I did. Just about every room has a view of the Danube and the Palace across the river. The staff is very helpful and almost everyone speaks english. The concierge arranged for taxis for both drop-offs and pick-ups so we didnt have to worry about the questionable charging ethics of the independent cabbies. While the air conditioning performance is not up to cushy american standards, it did help take the edge off during the summer. Proximity to the shopping, restaurants, and boat tours is hard to beat. But the biggest benefit of this hotel is only available to the elite Marriott patrons or those willing to pay a little more for their stay. The Concierge Lounge has a large patio on (not quite) the top floor with a commanding 270deg view of the city. Breakfast is served in the morning; bottled water and soft drinks are available all day (a boon when water is absolutely required in the summer); and at night the evening meal and bar are open. Unlike the US concierge rooms, this one has some liquor, wine, and beer all gratis.
After a long day of sightseeing, retire the patio and enjoy watching the boats with a cold Dreher.
While there is no pool for the kids, take a taxi to one of the famous public baths (see my review on that as well).
