“Great place to go for a walk!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

If you are trying to get your 10k steps for the day. The entire route around the island will help you get the 10k steps you need and many recommend. There is also the workout section where you can use a gym or join some exercise classes they have in the morning. There is also a Yoga class if you are into that. I did a Russian Kettlebell class there one time and that was pretty neat. I got walking/running here with my SO. There are others running around also but I like it because it is setup exactly to get 10k steps. There are also some ice cream and pastries in the inner workings of the islands all around. There are also various exercise outdoor machines and warm up places before you go for your run, jog, walk. Also is a dedicated runing walkway which is padded. It's a single lane so I mostly let the runners have a go at it while I enjoy it when I'm walking but I pass to the right for the fast ones! Overall a great park and place to just get away from the city. Concerts are played here often also.

“rent a bike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We rented bikes for two hours and saw the whole island. It's a beautiful green island full of nice things to do. The Japanese garden is very simple, but it has a pond with tortoises.
Try the "langos" a kind of fried pancake with sour cream and cheese.

“Crowded, run-down, and boring”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

So, I actually live near Margitsziget and decided to check it out when I had a free Saturday with pleasant weather. It wasn't a very pleasant experience. One, there is not a lot to do there and a lot of the buildings are run-down looking or closed. There are literal historical ruins on the island, which is fine, but there are also "modern ruins" that are just eyesores--buildings that have been abandoned and covered in graffiti. But the worst problem was how crowded it was. Maybe the day I went there was an anomaly, but the crowd seemed incredible to me. I felt like I was back in the States at Six Flags or something like that, with young couples and families running every which way. It was the very opposite of relaxing. And forget coming here to do something you normally do in parks, like play frisbee or something. You'd never find that much unoccupied green space. You'll be lucky if you find a place for your picnic blanket.

“Pleasant but not spectacular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Margaret Island is a pretty parkland setting. There is nothing spectacular about it but it provides a pleasant few hours of strolling and just enjoying nature. There is access to it by boat or by just walking over the bridge.
