Description: Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa...that is the Sicilian cook and Sicilian table. According to a Roman saying this is the secret to a healthy life. They came, saw and conquered: the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Angevins, Hapsburgs, the Bourbons...Yes, every one of them! All these people, they left something in Sicily - Trinacria, for example, belonging to Greek mythology, the Gorgon in the middle and the three legs as tips to protect the island. The Arabs, skilled breeders of goats and lambs, and with them their milk, processed caciocavallo, provola pecorino. The testimony of the Saracens from the "sweet tooth" in Sicily is a legacy left by the nuns who handed down the memory, and it is thanks to them that today we have the real dough, cassata and Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa "cannoli". With the succession of all these peoples, Sicily today has a very diverse cultural heritage, that leaves a lasting impression for life, the memories of all those travelers who have had the opportunity and the chance to visit it. Between the oleanders and colorful bougainvillea, under the shade of the thick foliage of olive trees, savoring the delicacies of Sicilian cuisine, including fresh fish of the sea, the warm sun that enriches and gives an unmistakable flavor to fruits and vegetables, sipping her wine noblest, is unforgettable. Equally memorable are the inhabitants of this fantastic island, famous for their warm welcome and availability, full of life, with their kindling a sense of humor, with the inimitable "coppola" placed on their heads, with a joyful noise you preach good appetite. This atmosphere we are ready to offer here in Budapest! "Baciamo le mani!"(kind of typical Sicilian regards) Salvo Sgroi and La Coppola Team

“More Italian than some restaurants in Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Excellent pizza, very thin crispy base. Partner had calamari which he said was superb. The rosemary potatoes were better than any potatoes we have had in Italy (where we spent 2 months). Highly recommended restaurant.

“Ideal Italian meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

The prompt and friendly welcome started our dinner off well. We indulged in the draft prosecco and tried the melon and ham starter, to be amazed by the rich flavour of each. My partner's pizza was perfect, with the thinnest, crisp crust and delicious toppings, and my homemade ravioli was delicious--every bite was a pleasure. For dessert, my partner had a gorgeous tiramisu, while I had lemon sorbet served in a champagne flute with a straw! Yes, it was drinkable--and it was decadent.

Everything was served swiftly (a rarity in our time in Budapest) and kindly, and every course was delicious. It looks a little pricier than some options, but it's excellent value. We'll be back!

“Don't look anywhere else”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

It usually takes three different places to find what La Coppola offers:
- One for a nice and quiet location in a beautiful pedestrian street.
- Another for a beautiful restaurant room setup, including two jazzmen playing above your head.
- And a last one for such a plethoric menu of classical and original dishes so tasteful and at gentle prices.

In addition to all that, there is one thing you may look for around Budapest without finding it anywhere else: such a committed, helpful, smiling and efficient staff.
Would you visit Budapest without paying a visit to the Baths? No? Then why would you not visit La Coppola?

“Fab restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

Me, my partner and 2 of our friends visit Budapest every year. This is a fab restaurant whether its for lunch or dinner. We have never had a bad meal in here. My partner who is vegetarian always struggles to get a decent meal in the city but La Coppola never disappoints and there is plenty to choose from. I can certainly recommend the Etna Pizza. Will we go again absolutely.

Nice and friendly staff. Excellent quality of food! Fast service! Pizza is good as in Italy and very cheap! Good place to have, lunch or dinner in the city center!
