Description: This is a very popular pub close by the Opera etc. I wanted to list it under Nightlife, but didn't find that option, and neither do I see any reviews of it. The pub is a very popular place to go have a drink while watching sports. Local beer was very cheap, 500 FL for a pint of lager, service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was great ! Would definitely come here again..

To quote an old Scottish beer advert. The Caley has everything you'd look for in a great pub. Excellent ambience, terrific food, exemplary service and bright friendly staff. Well done Pat and Zsuzsa. Can't wait to get back there!

“The Cali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

I've been coming here since The Cali opened - and, despite the fierce food and beverage competition in Budapest, keep coming back... .

It is what it tries to be - a great bar. A good place to meet and chat. Good food, good beers and a truly great range of whisky!! Their events are always very special - and so well worth it, too...

Top that with an open welcome and friendly service - plus a lot of support from the owners for local sports teams and charity events - and you'll know why I'm here...

Alan

“Suggested for your own discovery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Caledonia is a must pub to visit if you go to Budapest. I am sure the best fish and chips in Hungary is there and this is the only place I know drought Belhaven Best Scottish bier is available. And these were just two good reasons. You can discover the rest on your own.

“Something for Everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

An excellent watering hole with a reputation for friendly service, good food and a range of domestic and imported beers and ciders. Not to mention the extensive range of whiskies and whiskeys!
A warm welcome (aircon in the summer) in a family friendly setting. See their website for current attractions, sports, music, quizzes, gastro events.
Zsuzsi and Patrick get 10/10 for what they've achieved!!

“A Rare Thing - top quality ex-pat experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

I'm not one to look out Irish/Scottish or god forbid 'Brit' bars or restaurants when travelling but for me the Caley is unlike any ex-pat places I've witnessed. Firstly the hosts Patrick and Zsuzy are so friendly and helpful, as indeed are all the staff. The bar is decorated really tastefully with touches of Rennie Mackintosh set against a kaleidoscope of screens catering for all sports. But this is not just a sports bar, there is regular live music and events (Hungarian, Scottish, Irish and others) throughout the year. And whilst the food is decidedly Scottish (Haggis, Stovies, Salmon, Scotch beef etc.), it also has an international flavour.

It is ideal if you are a first time visitor to Budapest. Centrally located, make it your base and exploit the good advice, beer and hospitality to the max.
