“You can find better...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

A guesthouse(not a hotel) close to the centre of Budapest.Guesthouse means just few rooms and a small desk in the middle of the corridor for the man that stays there and helps the visitors(something like reception). The rooms are small and not so clean, walls are dirty and you can find even spiders web around the doors and mald in the shower.Cleaning service is something that simply does not exist. You have to ask for toilet paper and you have to ask for clean towels and you have to ask someone to take the trash out of the room.We stayed one week and the room was cleaned only once! The staff that we met was an old man that really cared and he tried to help as much as he could. He gave us info about the city, transportation, places to eat and whatever we wanted. The other man that we met and he was working there he was just saying goodmorning and have a nice day,no more communication. The location of the guesthouse is really good, next to the centre, close to busses, trams and metro. The area is quiet, the only little anoying thing there is that the metro line is passing just under the guesthouse and you can feel it when it moves. Finally i have to mention that no receit was given to us by the guesthouse. The prize for this guesthouse was not so expensive but i think you can find better...

Room Tip: Choose the inside rooms, not the rooms next to the door

The hostel is close to the train station and 2 blocks from the metro and hop hop off stop (very important in Budapest). The rooms are clean, the european breakfast very good, and the staff go out of their way to help you. It was nice to have coffee, tea, and microwave 24/7. An Aldi is on the corner for drinks and snacks. The most important and one of their best features, is they have their own car service to the airport who is reliable and MUCH cheaper than a local taxi. I recommend the Elvis Hostel to anyone traveling to Budapest.

Room Tip: Read your instructions and information very carefully. There are 2 locations in Budapest and it is...

I originally booked this hostel because of its location however I realized later that the apartments were at a different location from the hostel and by then it was too late to make alternate arrangements. Anyway it worked out for the best because I LOVED the loft style apartment. It was actually pretty close to Nyugati station in a quiet backstreet near lots of small bars and eating places. I didn't use the kitchen but facilities were good and there is a common laundry. Actually this place is perfect for anybody or a couple who wants to get away from it all for a while. The only drawback is, it doesn't have a reception or any go-to kinda person. Of course you can contact the owners though but its usually nice to have a place to go to 'incase'. I didn't get any receipts etc. it was all done in cash and I left the keys in the letter when I left. (I'm sure you can get one if ask.) It didn't bother me but it might to some guests.

The studio was excellently located, near the most important street of Pest (contemporary centre of Budapest), with 2 metro stations and tram stops nearby. The closest neighbourhood was packed with pubs, restaurants, shops, everything what's needed.
The conditions for such a small price were excellent: tv, fridge, fully equiped kitchen (corkscrew included!), hairdrier, etc.
The stuff was nice and helpful (thanks to them we got a very cheap taxi drive to the airport!)
The only one disadventage was the bed: it consisted of two separate ones causing some disturbance...
Anyway the stay at Elvis G. was great, we have had a wonderful time in Budapest, hope to go back there some day.
Good luck Elvis! (but please take care of the beds!;)

I would have given this guesthouse a much (MUCH) better rating (and review) had we not gone to the hostel location- gotten locked inside the courtyard of the building. After about twenty minutes of knocking on the hostel door within the building, we gave up and knocked on random doors to try to use a phone to call the guesthouse. Once we called the number, we were told that we were sent an email with a different address (as we booked an apartment, not in the hostel itself).

We thought we missed the email, as we were on a train all day. Unfortunately, we discovered that there wasn't an email waiting for us at all. He had never emailed.

So, after an hour of trying to simply check in, we were told we had to walk several blocks to take a tram and then walk to our apartment location. The trams weren't operating. By the time we checked into the right location, it had been a total of two hours trying to get into our room.

All of this confusion and annoyance could have been easily avoided with clearer communication or even a SIGN at the hostel location with directions to the other location...

The apartment we rented (for nearly a week) was in a great location (right around the corner from Instant Ruin Pub) and nice- with the exception of no fan (hot nights) and the walls being paper thin (i.e. you can hear EVERYTHING next door).

I would just suggest booking further in advance and making sure you know which location you need to arrive at, so you don't get locked in or it doesn't take several hours to drop off your bags and take a shower after a day on a train.

Room Tip: Ask for a fan and extra toilet paper. Also, the towels smelled REALLY musty- so if you don't hav...

I was not impressed that our room had been double booked and when the manager showed us to the alternative further along the street, I was concerned. However, instead of a double room we had an entire apartment to ourselves so a private bathroom and kitchen too at no extra cost. We simply went along to the guesthouse in the morning for breakfast, which we typically do after getting ready anyway. I cannot give a review of the guesthouse rooms but the breakfast and service was very good.

We went to Budapest on a budget, and were looking for a cheap way to stay. Elvis Guesthouse came out as cheap and good, and indeed it was! We booked a studio - which is not at the main building, but a bit more to the center. It's a pretty large duplex studio: kitchen with two heaters, a fridge, and dishes and cutlery. Also a private shower and toilet, a two-person bed.
But the best thing was, it's so amazing close to the center of Pest, only 10 minutes walk from Parlament, a lot of bars and restaurants close by (Liszt Ferenc is just around the corner).
The only bad thing was the fact that on the opposite side of the street there's a bar... and a quite lively one too.

Room Tip: Studios are big and not expensive at all. Just don't forget: bring a towel and think about break...
