“Still a very nuce place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Many years ago, I spent a nice evening at this restaurant. Reading quite a few bad reviews I had my doubts, but decided to give them another chance. I didn't regret it. The food was fine - as I remembered. The band was entertaining, and at took also "orders" for the music. They had not nagged and asked for anything before we tipped them generously. The property itself could enjoy a renovation (No change since my last visit at the nineties, but definitely a nice evening and a good value.

“time warp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

If your idea of bliss is a 1970's time warp this is probably the place for you. Our waitress was charming but the loos stank, the decor was tacky and the food only memorable for its complete mediocrity and the adherence to 1970's cooking techniques. The serenade by "gypsy" musicians only added to our wish to be anywhere except the Black Raven but some of our fellow diners appeared to thoroughly enjoy the evening so perhaps we´re not to be trusted? If it were in anywhere but a prime tourist location this restaurant would have failed long ago.

“Great atmosphere ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

I took my mum here for mothers day. We arrived lunch time around two o'clock. The restaurant wasn't full but had a few tables. They had a gipsy band playing. They were really good made the restaurant have a good atmosphere. The food was great so was the service. If you want a traditional place to eat this if the place to go.

“quaint , cosy and great music!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

jonas and his gypsy band were excellent and not too pushy with the sales pitch for their cd.
our choice of typical hungarian food was nice enough but nothing more
eclectic decor added to the quaint cosy atmosphere
i would go back again
