“Great building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

We went by this building several times, mostly daily, on our trip to Budapest, and the whole thing is beautiful. We never went inside though!

“Parisi udvar - presently in a state of disuse and disrepair.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Parisi udvar is an early 20th century French style department store that is presently in state of disrepair in central Budapest. The building shows hints of architecture elegance and grandeur from a time long past. Today, this is a dilapidated building in much need of important restoration.

We had mixed emotions when looking at the Parisi udvar building during our recent visit to Budapest. On one hand, we very much liked seeing the Art Nouveau style architecture, design and decor found all along the outside of the building as well as into the galleria area which you can see.

On the other hand, it was also very sad to see the poor state and undignified condition of this building. There is evidence that this was a spectacular place and we believe it has the potential to be a wonderful attraction once again.

From what we understand, this is a protected historical building. We solemnly hope that it is simply a matter of time before the city does something to restore and resurrect this building to its former glory.

Fabulous building. I hope it gets renovated in a 'friendly' manner. Incredibly imposing, fabulous details. Go see

“Waiting to be Reborn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

This fabulously beautiful but sadly neglected building has not yet been restored to its original glory, apparently because it (rightly) enjoys protected status as a major historical site, so any restoration would have to meet very high quality standards to ensure authenticity. Here's hoping that somebody or other will come up with the money sometime soon! This could & should be a major tourist & high-end shopper attraction. In the meantime, you have to fill in the imperfections with a little imagination.

“Wow, a touch of elegance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

The Paris udvar is a 19th century French inspired building and may be found at the intersection of Kossuth Lajos and Petofi Sandor. This is the building which is to be found on many of the B&W photos available for tourists. Entry is by way of a small door in a large chain wire drop door. The building is empty and there are security guards on duty however tourists are allowed entry.Take a few pictures here, one of yours could be worth framing. It is beautiful inside as it is outside and must have to be one of the best. Don't miss it!
