“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

We stayed at the Butterfly Home for two nights earlier this month. The room was very large & clean. We were very impressed. The location is very central with a lovely restaurant 5 metres from the front door!
Breakfast was excellent. We could squeeze our own fresh orange juice!
We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Budapest.

This B&B, located in the less touristy perimeter of the pedestrian area, provides the perfect opportunity to mingle with other Hungarians and travelers in the nearby pubs, restaurants, and various eateries. The owners (who refurbished the building) are very helpful, both for the pre-planning and researching information as we needed it, for example concerts, thermal baths, wine and coffee bars. The room was very spacious, with coffee and tea available. The location is close to the Central Market, the Danube, the bridge to Gellert, and the metro. Breakfast was wonderful and healthy with fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh pastries, breads and jams. This is a home away from home, and far from the hustle and bustle of the larger hotels. As of this writing, Butterfly Home is not able to take credit cards.

Excellent B&B with central location. Very friendly owners who offered valuable advice on what to see and where to go. Would not hesitate to recommend the B&B as it was very clean with large room and bathroom.Good choice of breakfast buffet.

There's not a great we can add to the previous reviews, which are unanimously, and deservedly, complimentary. The Butterfly Home is within walking distance of most of the popular locations in central Budapest. For those who need it, the metro and tram are just around the corner. We had no problem finding excellent meals in several nearby restaurants. Our room was large and immaculate, with every facility we needed. All it lacked was an outlook - the single window looked onto a small, enclosed space at the back of the building. But we did not travel to Budapest to look out at it from a bedroom. There's wi-fi, for those that can't travel without a laptop, and even a free-to-use PC in the lobby. The young couple who run the Butterfly Home are very friendly, helpful and English speaking. All round, a great place to stay.

Butterfly Home is a converted mid 20th century apartment building on a quiet, pedestrianised street in the centre of Budapest. The Danube is five minutes walk away, looking across to Budapest castle (gentle 20 minutes), as is the principal shopping street. The opera, parks, trams, metro, Jewish quarter and so on are also close by. Rooms are large and spotlessly clean, the proprietors are friendly and helpful - eg recommending a v good Hungarian restaurant close by - and breakfast is good, calm and plentiful. I would recommend without hesitation.

We just left this great hotel, the hoteliers were super friendly. The coffee was the best we had on our entire trip. The breakfast was great (fresh squeezed OJ), the room was huge with a really nice bathroom. No phone in room, but the owner lent me his, very nice. We will return. Great location, one block from the metro (which was great) and just tucked in enough to be quiet (except for the occasional construction noise) The owners helped us plan our day trips (don't miss the szcecneay baths, I didn't spell this correctly, but you'll be able to find it, the metro has a stop there)

it really is all true! We were a group of 5 women staying in 2 rooms. The rooms were big with high ceilings, clean and plenty of space for all. The bathrooms were clean and fresh with all the required amenities. Great breakfast with plenty of choice and these guys really cannot do enough for you - even doing research on opening times and bus routes for us as we were there over New Year and as we all know things can get a little disrupted then. We were even given a bottle of the local plonk to celebrate New Year's Eve with in each room!
The lock to one of the rooms was a little tricky butotherwise I have only good things to say!
