Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Very knowledgeable guide whose English was very very good. Lots of memorabilia and exhibits to look at. Learnt a lot about the uses of the hospital and experiences of the Hungarian people during WWII, 1956 uprising and the Cold War threat. The cool of the caves was a welcome relief on a very hot day which just added to the experience (though they supply jackets if you need them as the tunnels get rather cool). Very much worth the entrance fee. Only draw backs were the largish group (it is peak tourist season after all) and some difficulties were had hearing our guide present due to the echoing in the tunnels of other attendees conversations and the proximity of another tour group (different language). Thanks for a great experience!

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

Definitely visit here, was amazed. Really interesting. There was no English book at the end to buy as they had run out which was a shame but I liked the whole thing.

“Really interesting tour - very different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

This is a really unique attraction tucked away in Budapest. The guides spoke really good English, and the tour was very well constructed. Really engaging and the temperature of the caves was a welcomed break from the humidity. I would absolutely recommend it.
