Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

“very interesting”

definitely worth a look if you are into war museums and nuclear bunkers! Dragged my girlfriend there - at first she really wasn't impressed with going to see a nuclear bunker as we were meant to be on a romantic break but she did enjoy it once the tour got going!

“Museum tour with a difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Didnt really know what to expect but the hospital and nuclear bunker were definately different to the normal museum tour. The fact that if you wanted to you could buy authentic items from the hospital in the small shop was interesting too. The guide was excellent switching from Hungarian to English throughout the tour as well

A really unique and facinating experience. Tour in english lasts 75 min. Show your Budapest Card for a discount, and don't forget to buy your souvenier gas mask! Enjoy.

“A nice cool way to kill an hour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

It was okay. No photos allowed, i suspect that its because the displays are a little cheezy, with the wax maniquins.

“great tour guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

This tour really gave us a feel for what the Hungarian people had to endure. English speaking tours start on the hour and last about an hour.
