We were three couples and as we were feeling really cold and hungry after a morning of sightseeing, we all ordered the goulash thinking it would be a good hearty meal. How wrong we were!! We each had a measly portion which contained 4 pieces of meat per person and came away feeling really hungry! Would not recommend to anyone as it was certainly not good value for money. On a good note the red wine was excellent.

Ordered the beef goulash and was given an overlooked stew with the toughest and fattiest beef ever! The waiter saw I was having difficulty cutting up the meat which I would have expected would be mouthwatering but wasn't.

He asked what the problem was and took the dish away without asking if I would like something else which I did!

Then brought back another goulash with leaner meat but still tough!

We had one starter, 2 mains and 5 beers totalled €47 to include a non discretionary 12.5% service charge which is always a bad sign!! Too pricey and the portions were small.

We were not asked if we wanted coffee and desert so poor service too!

Tablecloths were dirty too.

Don't eat here!

Overall very disappointing experience for first time in Budapest!

Lovely staff who spoke a range of languages. Very good service and very good food for reasonable prices considering they are on the main tourist shopping street in Budapest. Would definitely go again.

They are situated in the new part of Vaci street. They aspire to be serving modernized Hungarian dishes. They want to be bistro style too. But what they are not taking into consideration is that they are also focusing on tourists. And all these cannot work together.
The food is more fancy than real creation, no soul in there. Service: horrible. A waiter who wants to sell us everything. And also Vaci street prices...
No way!

We went to Paul's Bistro on the recommendation of an American friend who had also visited Budapest. We were the only diners at first, and we were graced with excellent service by a wonderful, very funny server who entertained us throughout the evening. This is the first restaurant I've experienced with photos of the dishes shown on an iPad! I had pork tenderloin that was perfectly cooked and tender. The wine recommended to us was perfect. Others have written about so-so experiences, but I am a harsh critic of restaurants and found the food delicious and the service unmatched and highly entertaining!
