“International Standard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

This glassfronted restaurant is housed within the 5 star Sofitel Hotel, on the Pest waterfront with outstanding views across the Danube to Buda Castle. The food is also outstanding, of an International standard you'd find in top hotel restaurants in NYC or London but pay double for, with poorer views.
I had grilled octopus with a citrus salad for starter, followed by sea bream with asparagus beurre blanc and Hungarian style chocolate cake for desert. All delicious and beautifully presented. We were also served delicious bread and an amuse-bouche of foie gras.
The wine list had a good selection of French and Hungarian bottles. Being in Hungary, I tried a Rizling from Balatron, which was very agreeable.
Worth seeking out: yes it's a bit more expensive in Budapest, but significantly cheaper than an equivalent standard back home. Treat yourself.

Dear roscco, thank you very much your nice comment on TripAdvisor. We are very glad to read such a good opinion about the Restaurant and its food selection. It is true that we have a breathtaking view on the Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle. We are working continuously to keep the highest standards and it is really nice to know that we are on the right track. Hopefully you will visit us again in the near future and try the other Hungarian dishes or wines. Regards,

“Nice restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Service was amazing. Waiters and waitresses were nice. Prices in range of $15 - $50. The only disadvantage that food is quiet spicy which can be a problem to some customers.

Dear uareview, thank you very much for your comment. Our team always try their best when they are serving our precious guests. The Hungarian cuisine is a little bit spicy but if you are staying in Hungary we believe it is a "must" to taste the most famous Hungarian dishes. Hungarian dishes can be a little bit heavy for people's stomach but you can not miss to taste them. Hopefully next time when you will visit us again you will try other delicious dishes prepared by our kitchen.
Best regards,

“Mixed feelings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Enjoyed dinner here on 2 occasions. Prices surprisingly affordable for a 5 star hotel. Service was good, food was well prepared, fresh and tasty. Our downfall came about when we ordered a glass of tokay to complement the complimentary tray of petit fours. Nearly fell off our chairs when we received our bill which showed a charge the equivalent of $70 for the 2 small glasses of tokay. When we questioned this with our waitress, then floor manager, they both said that the high cost was because the tokay was top of the range. We told them that we were not consulted about the quality or price of the tokay and we would not have willingly ordered such an expensive wine. The floor manager offered us a 50% discount on the cost, which while still more than we would have paid, we accepted. We decided to dine again the next evening, which was our last night in Budapest, as it was convenient, and generally the price and food was good. Imagine our astonishment when we asked for our bill to find that we were charged for 3 main meals that we didn't order!! We were more than annoyed at this level of ineptitude, given that the restaurant purports to offer a higher level of service and dining. The Maitre'd was apologetic, was also aware of the bungle the night before and offered us a glass of tokay as a goodwill gesture. All very well received, but a very disappointing experience overall. In a nutshell, food was good, service was good, but be sure of what you order and check your bill.

“Modern bar with a river view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Fantastic night visit for cocktails! Recommended to a have a city's vibe. Modern interior design that shows off night city lights. Great sweets. Try the macaron with ice cream. Service is slow though the staff are very polite and efficient! The place is obviously understaffed and waiters have to cover long distances to serve bar and restaurant!!

Dear Kaleni, thank you very much your comment about the Bar service and team. We are glad that you loved our sweets and cocktails in the Bar.
We have a show kitchen - which is in the restaurant - so you can see how your food is being prepared. It's not so far from the Bar and the kitchen signs when should the waiter go for the ready Bar food so our colleagues don't run unnecessary boards.
Hopefully you will visit us again and try the new summer menu in the Restaurant.
Best regards,

“A Diner Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Paris Budapest, dining with flair and for people with an exquisite taste, yet for an afordable price.

Me and my parents stayed in Boedapest for 4 days, we loved it and since we are fond of restaurants which put that little extra effort in presenting and preparing their food, we were absolutely amazed about the Paris-Budapest restaurant. Not only the food was marvellous, the whole evening was: a mere diner experience! For those people who like to have their plates stuffed full with french fries and a 1/2 pound steak, this is not the place. But if you like to taste fine food in good porportions, presented as if it was almost an art, this is the place for you. From oysters to fouie gras, from steak tartar to salmon, its all there. The restaurant has a widely varied menu that will please almost anyone in my opinion. Aside to that: the staff will happily assist you with choosing the best wine to go with your food, from their wide variety of wines on their card (the hungarian rose is a splendid choice!)
We dined there two times in 4 days, and every single time the food was prepared with the uttermost care and love a chef can put in his food (you can see them prepare the food in the back of the restaurant!) We loved it.
As for the price, its the best quality/ prices range you will get in Budapest for this 2 michelin star restaurant at the banks of the danube with a marvellous view on the Buda Castle. Add to that that the staff is trained and aquainted with high standard of hosting, you will have an amazing evening.

Do yourself a favor and give yourself the treat of dining there, there will be no regrets.
