This glassfronted restaurant is housed within the 5 star Sofitel Hotel, on the Pest waterfront with outstanding views across the Danube to Buda Castle. The food is also outstanding, of an International standard you'd find in top hotel restaurants in NYC or London but pay double for, with poorer views.
I had grilled octopus with a citrus salad for starter, followed by sea bream with asparagus beurre blanc and Hungarian style chocolate cake for desert. All delicious and beautifully presented. We were also served delicious bread and an amuse-bouche of foie gras.
The wine list had a good selection of French and Hungarian bottles. Being in Hungary, I tried a Rizling from Balatron, which was very agreeable.
Worth seeking out: yes it's a bit more expensive in Budapest, but significantly cheaper than an equivalent standard back home. Treat yourself.
