We recomned the popular goulash soup, the little bit spicy vegetable ragout "Lecso" and the city's popular "Budapest style beefsteak with goose liver". “Another excellent meal and music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

We had an excellent meal, all six of us, at the Lado Café, and entertained by a four piece jazz group. Best to book, as this place gets very busy, seems very popular. The staff were excellent, the food was delicious and the red wine, bulls blood ? was really good.

“Great food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

We had chosen to dine at Lado Cafe due to the proximity of our hotel and were really pleased we did so.

We hadn't booked and upon arrival at around 830pm were told we could wait to see if a table became available. We were given menus and were quickly seated with a great view of the band within 10 minutes.

All of the staff were very friendly and attentive without being obtrusive and they appeared to genuinely care that everyone was enjoying themselves.

We didn't have to wait long for our food which was delicious, plentiful and very good value for money.

The swing band that were playing were brilliant and created a fantastic atmosphere. Despite not being jazz fans, we were disappointed when they finished as they were really very entertaining.

All in all, a great night at the Lado Cafe!

“Truly a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

We were desperate to find a restaurant/cafe with music (not loud or disco) away from the rip-off establishments in the main streets or near the major tourist attractions. We found it, thanks to a recommendation by the concierge in our hotel. The Lado is in a side street and is the kind of unpretentious place you might walk straight past without a second glance. It is open seven days a week, and every night there is live music in some form, usual a piano/singer duo, or a swing quartet belting out classics - always in English. The food was the best we ate in our five-day stay, superbly cooked, generous portions and always fresh. Main courses around £12-£13 and wine reasonably priced at around £9 - £10. Waiters speak good English. We were so impressed we went back a second night.

“Live jazz and goulash:a heavenly pairing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

This was a beautiful little restaurant located near our hotel. We arrived without a reservation to the busy restaurant and we're so kindly accommodated nonetheless. The staff was friendly and professional, and the food (we had the goulash and some salads) was quite tasty and a good value. The live jazz (daily, I believe) started at 8pm and helped set the tone for a lovely dining experience. One of our favorite restaurants in the city.
