“Amazing vegetarian and great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012 via mobile

We had a share plate, burrito and quesedilla as well as some full bodied organic wine recommended to us. The experience was a delight. A lot of information was given about the food and it was even vegan friendly. The area upstairs was quirky and comfortable amongst a of the feline decorations.

“Ice-cold Punk IPA in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

One of the very few hidden gems in town, off the beaten track, far from the tourist jungles. Without any fancy magazine ads or media coverage this cozy place became the favourite spot for enthusiastic crowd. Excellent veggie food, impressive beer supply (two types of beer on tap or you can go for the unbeatable ice-cold Punk IPA), great people and super friendly staff (find out who is the jew`s harp player). You just drop by here once and when you return next time you will be greeted as a good old friend. And it is only few of the many reasons why it can not be left out from your itinerary while in Budapest.

“friendly bar/restaurant off the beaten track”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Macska is a super friendly bar/restaurant, which is a perfect choice if you're looking for a relaxed place and don't mind leaving the tourist packed ruin pub area (which is actually not too far from here).
It's situated in the 8th district - not the most prestigious area - but in exchange you get a cozy pub combined vegetarian restaurant frequented mostly by local regulars. The staff is very welcoming and speaks English.
Apart from the food (which I've never tried) Macska is famous for its beer selection (try Punk IPA!) but it keeps excellent Hungarian wines as well. The prices are reasonable too.

“A lovely spot, well worth the journey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

A warm welcome seems guaranteed at this quirky and winning restaurant, a bit off the beaten track in Southern Budapest. Great ambience, with hip music of the lounge/electronica/drum n bass type, and a few-frills decor which still manages to engage and entertain. The vegetarian food was good, rather than exceptional, but it all added up to a winning experience for this traveller.

“Amazing gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

We were looking for a veggie restaurant and stumbled across Macska from a tripadvisor review. It's so cosy! Cheap beers, limited but delicious and reasonable menu. Beautiful decor- interesting art with a cat theme. There's an upstairs balcony with floor cushions and 20somethings draped across interesting furniture. Fun atmosphere for a younger crowd.
