“Good, new hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2011

New and spotlessly clean with exceedingly friendly, helpful staff. Good central location near to Metro and trains. Only downside was that the only food served there was breakfast and although there were plenty of places to eat nearby, they tended to be a bit down-market eg KFC etc. Useful Spar across the street, though. There was no desk suitable for working in my room, but there was a large bedside table and free WI-FI, and when signal was low I was offered free loan of a lead, which solved the problem. I also took a travel kettle as, like lots of hotels on the continent, there was no in-room facility for making a hot drink, although there was a mini-bar with cold drinks and good, reasonably priced coffee etc was available in the bar in the lobby.

Room Tip: Couldn't really tell which rooms were better

My schedule for early November shows me a trip to Budapest for a meeting with Malev.
Arrived with, well Malev and later on used the shared airport shuttle vans. At the hotel as planned in the late evening.
A friendly welcome at the desk, no time to wait during check-in.
As requested a room on the top floor was ready for me.
Well done modern design and furniture. The usual shower only these days, no bathtub.
A quiet night and another meeting in the hotel for breakfast, what was no problem at all.
The hotel offers free internet computers in the lobby, a bit of confusion to work with the hungarian keyboard, but fixed it in the end.
Not that much to view around, but when you leave Budapest by train, like me, at noon, it´s the place to stay, definitely with a couple of meters only to Keleti Palyaudvar, the main train station.
The fare 35.00 Euro´s only, that´s what I call a real good price earning ratio.

Just returned from a short 4 day break at this hotel. Prior to travelling checked out other reviews and was very pleased with everything I read and then found at the hotel. It is situated just 3 stops on the Metro 2 line from the centre of the city, tickets cost 260 Hungarian Forint's about 80p per person each way (great value). Staff are excellent and very willing to help with all your enquiries and speak very good English. Breakfast consisted of standard cold dishes found all throughout Europe with some hot Hungarian dishes to try; I did and found them to be very tasty. Bad point no tea/coffee making facilities in room so you could only have a hot drink at breakfast or up to 10pm at night in the bar. Rooms slightly small but perfectly suitable for a short stay, cleaned to a high standard each day although sometimes this was not done until late afternoon. Mini bar in room but as usual very expensive, we used the local Spar shop just 200 yards from the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there in the future.

The Royal Park hotel suprised us positively with it's cleanliness and hospitable staff. All the employees at the breakfast buffee and reception spoke atleast adequate english, they were generally really nice and service was great overall.

The hotel was clean, and I mean spotless, all around. Hallways were vacuumed twice a day and rooms were cleaned every morning.

Breakfast was good, aimed to the central European taste with sausages and such, but there were many possibilities to choose from; bread, yoghurt, cereal, boiled and scrambled eggs, cheeses and meats...

The keleti train/metro station is literally across the street, so you can basically get anywhere in and out of town from there, we used only metro during our stay.

There's a nice lobby bar also, but notice that you can only pay with cash in there, no credit card!

The reason I only give 4/5 for location is that the neighbourhood is not the nicest possible. We didn't run in to any problems and the area was genrally safe, but a bit unpleasant..

Dear Clients, thanks very much for writing about us, it is very helpful. I saw that we are developing regarding the breakfast. That sounds very good!
Unfortunately I can't help with the location, I think the hotel is very good itself so please recommend it!!!

The hotel is located in a not attractive area of Budapest. It is 3 min walk from the train/metro/ tram/bus station which is very convenient. The hotel itself is very modern, nice and clean. Unfortunately the walls are made of paper and I got the room next to the lift so it was quite disruptive. The room was comfortable and staff very helpful.

We booked 2 nights at the Royal Park. When we arrived at Budapest Keleti pályaudvar train station after an overnight ride from Prague. Initially our picked up driver had difficulty finding the address of the hotel even with his GPS and the van (there were 6 of us) kept circling around the block and after roughly 20 minutes driving, we finally arrived at the hotel only to realise the next day that the hotel was only about 500m from the train station. All the time our pick up driver was putting on an act as if we were going quite a fair way instead of just around the corner which we paid for 28 euros. The hotel is in the middle of a narrow street and when we arrived at 8:30am our 3 rooms were not ready yet but reception was very helpful and tried to give us a room first so we could refresh ourselves. The middle aged front desk manager was very helpful in helping us to phone our tour company to confirm for our day tour in the afternoon as the it was all spoken in Hungarian. The rooms were small but adequate and the unusual thing about the room is its bathroom door is a see through panel with grey strips across which is a bit inconvenient if you happen to have someone coming to your room. Breakfast was very basic, nothing to write home about, there is a coffee machine instead of providing fresh tea & coffee. There are 3 computers provided for free internet but with most hotels they are always occupied. Although the hotel was very close to east train station but we have to walk about 15 minutes to get the the city centre.
