“Authentic, Hungarian cuisine, friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

We just had our first meal in Budapest at Tigris Restaurant. What a great experience. Our waiter, Martin, was extremely friendly and recommended several authentic, Hungarian dishes and suggested local wines with each course. The food was absolutely delicious and we tasted several wines new to us that we're amazing. Martin shared the history of the dishes and wines with us. What a fantastic first meal in Budapest.

“Wonderful find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

My wife and I stopped in by chance and without reservations. We were greeted warmly, offered a cozy table next to a window, and had superb service throughout the meal. We were offered Hungarian champagne to start; it was very good and very inexpensive. The manager stopped at our table to translate the menu and offer suggestions. My wife and I have two totally different diets and he recommended dishes that we both found to be outstanding. This was our first experience with Hungarian food (in Hungary) and it was excellent. Our total bill for champagne and wine, appetizers, salads, and entrees was under $60 US. This restaurant is near the Danube; take a stroll after dinner to people watch and see the city lit up at night.

“Lovely meal in lovely surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

Celebrated a special birthday here. The food was excellent (the duck was some of the best I have ever had) and the service superb, compared to British prices great value for money too.

“a lovely dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The restaurant was charming, the service excellent, the menu appealing. One member of our party requested his steak well done (which we later found was almost impossible to get during our travels). He sent it back asking it be cooked further. It still came back pink. When our waiter noticed he insisted on taking the item off our bill. That's great, considerate, service. (And the rest of our dishes were wonderful.)

“Wonderful food, wonderful wine.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Great meal from start to finish.

We had the whiskey marinated salmon and foie gras tasting plate! Amazing, the foie gras brûlée was beyond!

Mains were the rose duck and the pork, both equally delicious and for dessert the traditional do is cake - a must! There were so many other tempting dishes it was hard to choose. We also had a bottle of Hungarian red, well chosen by the sommelier.

The staff are attentive and knowledgable. Portions are generous and you will definitely leave very full and very satisfied!
