“Budapest interrail visit”

The hostel is a great place for a good visit, we were there for 3 nights and only had good experiences there. The rooms are comfortable and a great size, only thing to say about the rooms is that there is no aircondition. About the facilities i will say that, the system of renting kitchen tools is a bit annoying, every time you have to borrow a spoon or a plate, you will have to pay a deposit for each thing. You should also concider to buy some toiletpaper yourself, specially if you have had too much gullash, cause thier toiletpaper suck. The tram station is 5 minutes walk and from there you can use tram 47 and 49 to the center of the city in 10-15 minutes.
The staff is great and some hot receptionist.

Yumme Yumme..

We didn't have gullash.

It is a very decent quality hostel, very recently renovated, near the Gellert hill and close to the historic center. Very nice personel, very large facility but still comfortable. There are showers in rooms, but it has no toiletts, you have to use the once at the corridor. I guess it is OK for this type of hostel.
Since the hotel is right in the center, there are good possibilities of transportation and of night life which Budapest is a good city to be in. I would recommend this hotel especially to people searching form cheaper accomodation in the city center.

We chose City Hostel Buda for the price and it certainly was cheap. Rooms were fine, as were shared bathrooms. Location is pretty average, 30 to 40 mins walk to the city. The reception set up is a bit chaotic for such a large hostel with big queues always waiting for keys, info etc. The guy that was on reception at nights was very helpful, staff during the day not so much.

Hi,
If you are looking for a room(rather Bed you can say) for just 20Euros per night for two bedroom. Then you can choose this.
I had stayed here for two days for 38EURs

Beware, other than the bed you need to pay for everything else.
you have a room which has 2 single beds.
a small room to take shower.
you have common toilets which is shared across the people who lives in that corridor.
Rooms are clean.

Do you want a table fan, pay the reception guy with rent+some advance he will provide.
No jugs even to drink water.you will get city maps near the reception itself.

Please note that in this 21st century, this hotel does not accept credit card payments!!
you must have the cash in euros/HUF to pay while checking in.

Other travelers complain that this hostel warns people to keep quite after midnight.
Please do not forget that it is for the benefit of travelers. what is the use if you pay for taking rest, and the next room guys keep making noise over night.
If you cant walk till this hotel from the nearby tram station, then please get into the BUS NUMBER-27 which drops you till "Menesi ut" stop which is next to this hostel.

if you are a budget traveler, you can definitely select this room for staying.

advise to this Hotel Management:
=>please fix a fan to all the rooms. Expecting visitors to pay additionally for such basic service is ridiculous. nobody will use the fan in winter if you are thinking otherwise.
=>Please keep a jug and a glass, so that people can drink water.
=>More important don't think all the travelers will come to your hotel with EUR/HUF in hand.
you need to accept the credit card payment. Or make this hostel available for credit card payment while booking thru online.

When i was looking for a place in Budapest i was looking for a cheap and close to city place to sleep. the plus of the hostel was the price, clean, silent and the nice staff. the minus were this bloody hill (if you don' have a car, good luck with the "trekking" on the hill), the lack of toilet in the bathroom and the check in at 1400.

but if you have a car, or you like to walk, the price is good this hostel is for you ;D

We stayed four nights at City Hostel Buda during a recent backpacking trip through Central Europe. The price was great. The room was simple, no kitchen or toilet in room but we had two twin beds, a sink and a shower. The toilet and kitchen were near our room in the hallway.

This hostel is not in the 'happening' part of Budapest (see their sister Hostel, "City Hostel Pest") and it takes a few public transit rides and a short walk to get to the hostel. But what it lacks in convenience is made up in great price and peace and quite. If you are looking for a simple and affordable stay in Budapest- this is a great option.
By the way, the prices change during early or mid August due to the Sziget Music Festival and it may be booked up so try to avoid that time or make a reservation.

I stayed in the hostel for just one night. I quite liked it. It's not the fanciest place you can hang out, but if you just want to have a decent and clean place where to sleep, go for it! The place is actually a student dorm used in summer as a hostel. So yeah, you can imagine long corridors with rooms side by side.

The rooms are quite small, but they have very comfortable beds, clean sheets, clean floors, clean walls, decent furniture. The bath in the room had only shower and sink. For toilets there's a bathroom at the end of the corridor. The toilets were all very clean, they had toilet paper and liquid soap and hands dryer.

All in all, i liked it. For a night, we payed 25 euros for a double room, which was a very good price for what they offer. The place is full of youngsters from all over the world. They have internet access on the reception. The staff was quite nice with us. Maybe we were just lucky... I recommend it!
