Stayed here for one night and it is a nice, clean, no frills B&B. Stayed in one of the apartments which are small and basic but have everything that you need for a good nights sleep and to make breakfast in the morning - I don't think that I would want to cook a full meal there though.

There is a nice secure private parking area right outside the building. It is a bit of a trek down to the lake if you are walking, a good 20 minute walk. There is plenty of parking (fee charged) by the lake if you don't want to walk.

Some people may complain about distance to the lake or size of the bathroom;
they should go to 'all-inclusive-tourist-factories' and network hotels.
This place is not for them,
it's for those who love movies like 'Stealing Beauty',
Under the Tuscan Sun', 'walk in Clouds' or 'Good year'.

Gombas Kuria is the place with soul, a beatiful soul.
Great interiors, very nice patio and garden.
And the owners!
WONDERFUL PEOPLE.

Overall:
one of the best places I've ever stayed at.

I spent 3 nights at Gombás Kúria at Easter. Our room was convenient with enough space and comfortable bed. It was tidied every day. Modern furniture in a very cosy environment. Breakfast was tasty and rich. Owners of the mansion are extremely kind and helpful. It is a bit far from the lakeside but easy to reach by car though. I can only recommend. Reasonable prices for very good service.

Been there several times. And loved to be there.

An old mansion is providing the place for the hotel. You will immediately feel priviliged to stay in. The rooms are decorated with modern furniture /with a good taste/, but the architecture itself is creating the atmosphere, which is unforgettable.

Owners are lovely people, you can really feel welcomed! You can turn to them with all of your requests, they will happy to advise you with all matters: programs, restaurants, events nearby...
You can have nice breakfast or taste fine local wines during the day/night too.

The only little issue: this is not in the city-center, but you can get there through a 15minutes walk which is not that much. As a reward, you are staying a lovely and quiet location, and can enjoy the stars by night from the garden. And of course, this is not a party-place, rather, you can talk to other guests with a glass of wine. My experience: nice place, lovely guests...
I hope, it will stay like this for long!

Room Tip: There are various choices available, so it is better to contact them, to suite your specific needs...

August 2012. Fabulous stay at Gombas Kuria. The owners are so friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The room we stayed in was luxurious for the price. The accomodation is a little bit out of town - but only a pleasant 15 minute walk. Delicious breakfast. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Great local food, a variety of superb local wines and a resort which has created an ambiance for all age-groups .
We stayed at Gombas Kuria (me and my wife and 15year old daughter) from August 5th 2012 to August 12th 2012. From the minute we arrived Gabor and his wife made us feel at home in their lovely hotel. We rented one of the apartments in above the sauna, next to garden and pool.(see photo’s). The weather was fantastic and hit 38 on one day which meant the air conditioning was a godsend. At Gombas Kuria guests can help themselves to wine, spirits and beer from the bar and if Gabor is not on hand all he asks is that you write down what you have consumed. At the end of our stay the drinks averaged about £1 each, fantastic value in such a special place. We had hired a car and the gated car park gave peace of mind .( guests are given keys for the electric gates and the hotel entrance)
The centre of Balatonflured has a 18th century square surrounded by the beautiful Anna Grand Hotel and the famous heart hospital which evolved due to the healing qualities of the spring water which you can consume today in the middle of the marble square. In front of the square is the tree lined promenade and lake .Whilst we were there the annual wine festival was in full swing. Twenty seven local vineyards offer tastings of their wines during the day and into the evening. There is music to suit all tastes as well as cheese bread and local savouries to help wash down the wine. Every evening there were hundreds of people of all ages, relaxing and enjoying the idyllic surroundings.
We ate out in Balatonflured most nights and the food was superb. La Riva, Vitorlas and Karolina are all fantastic offering traditional Hungarian food , as well as fine Italian cuisine and a great ambiance by the lake. The standard was five star and the prices very reasonable. Karolina do not take credit cards however this does not stop the restaurant from being extremely busy with great food and live jazz music. The deserts were very special indeed. Café Steg was very popular and the drinks service second to none. Our only below average meal in Balatonflured was at “The Menta Bistro” where the meat and fish dishes were small and uninspiring.
Gombas Kuria is within 2km of two very special vineyards with amazing views of the lake and unforgettable restaurants. Soptei Pince and Szent Donat Pince in Csopak please look at their websites and you will see how beautiful they both are. The food and wine live up to the surroundings.
The weather was mixed on Thursday so we went to the Aqua park and had great fun for over five hours with our unlimited slide bands costing 6000 Hungarian florits (about £18)
We spent two days at Csopak beach the quieter beach of Balatonflured you pay 650 Florits (£1.80) for the whole day. The beach is lined with cafes and restaurants with food and drink to suit all tastes at very low prices. The beaches are litter free and the restroom facilities are free and very clean. The lake itself is very shallow and warm with fine sand underfoot . The locals enjoy volleyball, water polo and swimming in the lake.
Our holiday at Gombas Kuria ended with a one and a half hour drive back to Budapest Airport and we left feeling we had experienced a very special place to which we would return soon.
