“A hotel quite under the standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

I have been at the Vile park Portoroz - Nympha apartments this august
I had a week stay with my family and ...a small dog... the smallest one in the world a 2 kg chihuahua . On the beginning I tried to book HISTRION HOTEL but they did not accept animal ...so we asked for Vile Barka and they refused to accept the small dog the chihuahua - finally in order to stay in the Bernardin Village I was obliged to accept two rooms at Vile Park . Upon the check in I was allocated at Nympha apartments.
The rooms were awful...no air conditioning - and were overexposed to the sun all day long. The temperature was unbelievably hot with old mattresses.
The rooms had carpet on the floor . This is quite an unusual fact at a seaside hotel. So the rooms had a bad smell of humidity all day.
It was also impossible to sleep at night since one of the two rooms was located just on the street and people drinking at bar talked loud all night long .
Motorcycles which supposedly were not allowed to enter the village - rushed along the street at all time - during the night too .
For the money we paid we had the worst hotel experience of our life.
I don't understand why, despite al the problems the hotel have, they don't accept small dogs Furthermore we saw cats all over the place and found found cats' [--] on the stairs of the apartments....
There was no wi fi- in the Vile Park area and we were offered to go to Hotel Histrion where there were 3 PC in the lobby. It was almost impossible to have a look to my e. mail for job purposes , since kids, who were not allowed to use the PC, were playng in internet all the day long.
The seaside and the overall environment at Bernardin Village is nice, food is acceptable, the strand is Ok but the whole hotel services are going down, the staff is not very friendly indeed.
We can conclude that there is no value for money and the whole facilities must be improved a lot.

Overall an average hotel.
Pros:
Clean, staff helpful, rooms OK, balcony was a nice addition
Cheap
Cons:
No wifi in the hotel, need to walk to the lobby of the nearby hotel
No AC in the rooms so dont go during a heat wave.
no minibar either

Room Tip: ground floor rooms have small patios.

Stayed here for three nights.
- the bathroom was old and needed reconstruction
- no minibar / no welcome water (and food & drink is not easy to get nearby at night)
- no internet!!?? (only available in another hotel lobby)
- room / furniture old
- no elevator (I need to carry my language to 2nd floor)

At least the ambient is nice. Try to get a room with a church view and balcony.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a church view and balcony.

We booked a family room and got 2 double rooms with a connecting door: one room with a balcony and the other without.

This stay was a good value, although we didn't have a sea view (should have cost more) and this hotel does not have an aircondition. Since we had always over 34 degrees, it was very hot and humid in the rooms.

The breakfast and the dinner were very nice, although the staffs were stressed and not very friendly. As a guests of Hotel Vile Park, you can eat at the restaurant in the Hotel Histrion in the same hotel complex, which is only 2 min. walking.

This hotel has an aquapark named Laguna with thermal water. Several jacuzzies, 3 baby waterslides and 1 waterslide, and several pools. You can also try diving, pedal boat and speedboat at the marine center in the hotel. You can book excursions at the travel agency situated close to the front desk of the hotel.

Next time we will stay at this hotel again, but we should not forget to take a fan with us.

positives: good location - 20 min walking distance to wonderful cities - Piran and Portoroz; free access to swimming pools inside and outside
negatives: animation for kids promised on website during july+ august ended on Aug.28 (we stayed 26/8-1/9 and our daughter was very dissapointed by having animation only first 3 nights of our stay); restaurant where breakfasts and dinners were served was always very crowdy - too small for such a big hotel resort; the same for a parking lot; the same food offered for breakfast all days - no change!!!; salty water in swimming pools.
