“Plenty of food , waiter needed help. ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We went here last night. It was warm and cosy and the waiter was exuberant , he spoke many languages ( as do most European people) and was very friendly. Our meals arrived ( roast pork and turkey shnitzel ) and they were delicious and large serves. I asked for wine which was brought in one glass and poured into another wine glass at the table. Unusual, I had dribbles all over the glass and table.
As more and more people arrived, it was obvious that this waiter was struggling and management should have sent some help. A French couple had their meals forgotten, others got their drinks mixed up. We waited ages for our bill and finally when it came we paid with no tip. As we walked away , we realised that in his haste, he had made a mistake , in our favour, and neglected to add on our drinks or coffees.
He was definitely getting cross towards the end. He just needed help. I would go back for the food though.

“Lunch was fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Had lunch here with a group of conference participants. The meal had been prearranged to include some traditional Slovenian music. For the meal, we had chicken noodle soup -- fantastic, with much more than we could eat -- followed by sausages, pork, and sauerkraut, with potatoes and carrots. The meal was superb, with more than enough quantity. The house wine was pretty good, too. Unlike many other European restaurants, carafes of water were also provided to our table -- and they were refilled upon request.

The entertainment was just great. The button-box accordionist was very good, both as a musician and as a host. The dancers were superb and even offered audience participation. This entertainment may have been provided as part of the conference arrangement, so we don't know if there is similar entertainment available on other days.

The restaurant is located not far from several local hotels and is in easy walking distance. Good food, great entertainment, easily accessible, and good value.

“Cracking food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Another restaurant that came highly recommended by others while I was in Slovenia, I visited on my first of two nights in Ljubljana. The restaurant was warm and inviting, the prices were great for the quality of food on offer and the food itself was incredibly filling and tasted well.... awesome. My meal even ended with a traditional Slovenian spirit that was also very tasty.

“Mad waiter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This was a cozy looking restaurant very close to our hotel Slon, there are loads of fantastic restaurants along the riverside but as the weather was bad on this day we stayed close to our hotel.
The food wasn't bad, above average, and the service was quite entertaining. The waiter was very abrupt and dashed around from customer to customer snapping at them, some people may have been offended, but we found it quite funny. The only thing that really bothered us was the waiter taking our food to another table to show other customers what we had ordered, waving our meals in front of their faces. Never the less we would probably visit again if staying in the same hotel and weather too bad to go anywhere else.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This place was recommended by the hotel we were staying at. We found it to be good value and the food good. What we ordered was not what we were expecting but it was good none the less. My husband had sausage and sauerkraut but it came out as a soup! I had a beef dish with baked polenta and again it was like a soup. Different but good. We were given a small glass of cherry liqueur before and again after the meal. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive.
