“Very traditional taste”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012 via mobile

I'm a Slovenian living in Canada. Was recommended by a local to visit Sestica for some excellent traditional food. Sestica was definitely an excellent choice with rich, traditional flavors. Have a great time as you listen to traditional Slovenian music and enjoy their large portions.

“Reliable & Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Having visited and liked Sestica in 2008, we were keen to take our friends here. A busy Summer night had us eating outside in the terrace area, served by amiable waiters. A good house-Wine accompanied nice salad starters and the Mains were Solid Slovenian Dishes, plenty of Meat !! Traditional Gabanica as dessert was liked by all.
Sestica once again sent us out with a warm ,content feeling, a good meal which didn't break the bank-- recommend for a solid choice when in Ljubljana.

“good authentic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

We visited this restaurant at the recommendation of a local hotel employee, as we were interested in trying some typical local dishes. The interior of the restaurant is varied with several different styles of rooms. We walked through them all, into an outdoor garden, which had a very nice ambience. Our server attempted to explain the menu choices as well as he could, and gave us the story on the dark red Teran local wine (very good)! Our food selections were well prepared, tasty and plentiful- we had the roast pork in plum sauce and the traditional sausage with mustard and roasted potatoes. A pleasant surprise was the Autumn Salad with pumpkin, grapes, toasted croutons and lettuce with a honey wine dressing. All in all, it was a very nice dinner!

“Real food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

We went by chance as the Sestica was next to our hotel. I love to experience the local cuisine wherever I go. My partner left from a farm in Slovenia 51 years ago. He said the food was similar to his moms fresh cooking. I loved it. ( I love food!) We had rolled cottage cheese dumplings as an appetizer . Very nice! I had proccuitto pasta..wonderful proccuitto ! John raves about the home smoked and winter hung pork of his youth and says it was almost as good. The blood sausage was to die for, reminding me of the ones my Memere made in Winnipeg Canada years ago. The farmers sausage and ham were excellent too. The sauerkraut was overcooked. I am used to Johns version . The white table wine was nice. I am no connoisseur ,but I like a smooth dry wine. The waiter was great. He tried hard to explain the dishes in his limited but enthusiastic English . He also gave us a treat of wine, honey, fruit and spiced liquer. Great end to the evening!

“Heavy local food, no haute cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We sat in the garden, nice but not so much flair.
The food was honest local home cooking, nothing sophisticated.
We had an "interesting" malvasia wine.
Overall not bad but a bit too much money for the value.
