“Galeria Rooms” is a good place to stay If you want to avoid hotels.
The location is great, rooms and toilet are big, super clean and good design. Big and clean windows and great TV .It’s a nice place to stay in the city, especially in winter when days are short and cold .
Congratulations to Anna , beautiful pictures , I love the one at the reception , snowed Ljubljana, it’s magical.

I think that the negative reviews are based on people not quite understanding the concept of Galeria Rooms. It is not a hotel, as such. Galeria Rooms rents out rooms but they are completely self-contained, with pirate bathrooms. So, in essence, it might as well be a hotel, it just does not have room service, a concierge or 24 hour reception.

If you understand that, the accommodation can't be faulted. There are two locations in Ljubljana, one central by the river, the other a bit less so but still not far from town. Rooms are modern, very clean, incredibly tasteful and excellent value for money.

I would highly recommend Galeria Rooms!

We stayed here for 1 night and were really impressed with the quality and facilities of the room. excellent to have a fridge, lovely luxery bathroom and great bed and TV.

The building was a former apprtment in an old tenament building, lovely high ceilings and wooden floors

The location is very central and close to the train and bus station as well as the main square.

We were in room 1 which was right next to the main entrance to the hotel and had the reception desk outside, i hadnt slept properly the night before and tried to get a nap when we checked in but was unfortunately disturbed by comings and going as i am quite a light sleeper. i think a room further back into the hotel wouldnt have this problem and on the night time it was quiet with it being a small hotel.

The hotel has definately made an effort to have a boutique feel, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay.

I'm quite surprised reading some of the reviews below. This place was absolutely fantastic! And so much better than some run of the mill hotel on account of the excellent service and beautiful rooms. This place doesn't look much from the outside but the rooms are really nice. The welcome we received was so warm and friendly and the staff were super helpful. The room was spotless and the bed super comfy. The room was air conditioned which was a welcome relief as it got quite hot whilst we visited Ljubljana! The staff gave us a map and pointed out some lovely local restaurants and the best attractions in town which was just a 5-10 minute walk away. If you're going to Slovenia, a trip to Lake Bled is a must. I would recommend getting the bus as opposed to the train as the bus stops about a 5 minute walk away whereas on the train you would need to get a taxi or a bus to get there. I wouldn't walk it, it seems very far! We would definitely stay here again, we loved this "hotel" or whatever you want to call it!

Offering rooms only, Galeria occupies a floor of a lovely high-ceilinged old building just over 5 minutes walk from the centre. Though the neighbourhood is busy, good double glazing means it's quiet. Rooms are big, painted calming white, with massive telly, wifi, and quirky photographs to give a modern feel. Staff are very friendly and full of information about where to go, what's on etc. For breakfast, head to the banks of the river and enjoy good coffee and pastries. Right in the neighbourhood is a great little jazz club with strawberry-laden sangria and a fab atmosphere to sample before heading back to your room.

First of all, not what we expected.

It is a series of room on the 1st floor of a building.

Secondly, they sell what they don't have and eventually lie about it : the air conditionning. Official story : How unfortunate, we ended up in the only room without air conditioning. We slept in an overheated room with just a fan. Opening the windows was not an option, because of the traffic noise.

Thirdly : the bedding is terrible. One of us ended up (willingly) sleeping on the floor...

Last but the least : terrible shower. No pressure, you get alternatively drops of cold water and sparsely some hotter drops.

They won't see us again...

While booking Galeria Rooms I didn't realize that this is actually not a real hotel. It's a place with four large guest rooms in an apartment building on the edge of the old town. The opera house is just down the road, a really beautiful park is nearby, and the city centre is only a ten minute walk away. Ljubljana isn't that big after all. It's also just around the corner of a busy intersection with easy access to several highways. Location-wise it's not too shabby, especially if you arrive by car.

Though it doesn't look like much from the outside, rooms are surprisingly big, bright and tastefully furnished with all amenities you might need. Beds are big and comfortable, though you want to watch out for sharp edges of the bed frame. We had two rooms, but it's beyond me why one had dark curtains letting in little sunshine in the morning, while the second one had cream-coloured curtains offering little resistance to the morning light. If you find a bright room disturbing at 6am in the morning, then this is not your place.
Compared to the size of the bedroom, the bathroom is rather a letdown with too little space to put your toiletries. I don't know why so many hotels in Europe believe shower cubicles a good idea. Maybe it's because they're convenient to install. We find them utterly dreadful. With that much thought been given to the bedrooms, there's a distinct lack of imagination concerning the bathroom.
The welcome was warm and friendly. The receptionist (a student) gave us a map and answered all questions I had about what can be done and where to go in Ljubljana. All in all, a promising start.
We were told that whenever we had a problem, we should knock on the owner's door, which was right on the premises, since the reception would't always be staffed. We had arrived by car from Italy and had parked the car outside the building overnight. But that wasn't an option anymore the following morning, so we knocked on the owner's door at 9.15am hoping that we could move our car to one of their parking spaces for 15 EUR per day. The next thing I knew was that a young man opened the door shouting at the top of his lungs that I had interrupted his breakfast and that reception would only open at 10am in the morning "as clearly mentioned on their website". Well, I had never been on their website nor did I know that I was only allowed to knock at certain times of the day. I asked him to calm down, that it wasn't my fault if he'd had a bad hair day. "Do you want that space or not?" was his response. He eventually did calm down and apologized for his rudeness. I have stayed in many places across five continents but have never been treated like some unwanted intruder.

Another letdown is that you have to leave your car keys with the reception or owner in case they have to move your car around. Another problem was that we had a day trip to Lake Bled and only arrived back in Ljubljana after 7pm, which apparently required special arrangements for parking. It went alright in the end, but just the thought of having to knock on that door again made me feel uneasy.

The rooms were very good, the part-time staff helpful and friendly, and I appreciate what some young people are trying to build here. I don't need pampering around the clock, but the least I'd expect as a paying guest is respect. It's a new hotel and the owners clearly still have to learn a lot about hospitality. You'll possibly be fine if you don't have a car or queries before 10am and after 6pm. Otherwise be prepared for a verbal bomb exploding in your face, which by any means is the last thing you want on your holidays. Even if somebody would pay me, I wouldn't go back there.
