“Wonderful hotel - Do not miss this one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This is a gem of a hotel in a gem of a city. The staff was super accommodating and very nice, from the desk reception to the breakfast room wait staff. The room was modern, clean and nice furnished with contemporary furniture a cool glass shower cabinet right in the room (at least I thought it was cool). Our room was very quiet, which is a primary concern for us. Location-wise it is a short walk through a park to get to the 3 bridges and the river where all of the action is. Definitely stay here if you are in Ljubljana.

Stayed three nights at Cubo, an couldn't have made a better choice. Interior details are impeccable throughout the hotel, and staff was very helpful and friendly. Especially at the amazing breakfast staff paid lot of attention and was very quick to ask if we wanted special coffees, pancakes etc.

Room was in perfect condition, which is a rather unusual experience when a hotel passes one year of age.

Location is perfect for exploring Ljubljana, with the old town very near.

Definitely a hotel that deserves a return visit.

Room Tip: Facing the National theater is probably the most quiet rooms.

Everything has already been said by the hundreds of satisfied travellers on this site. I had a great stay at Hotel Cubo! The location is perfect, with the castle and Old Town in easy walking distance. I used the shuttle service provided by the hotel from the airport and I was met on time by a friendly driver followed by an efficient, friendly check-in. That is one of the greatest strengths of this hotel. The staff are all extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. The staff at the front desk were always helpful and interested in making the stay as pleasant as possible, the cleaning staff were friendly and thorough and the restaurant was quick to assist. The breakfast was delicious, and apart from the standard buffet options there are additional options like pancakes which can be ordered from the menu. The rooms are a decent size with a free mini bar, fast wifi and satellite tv. Its always great to stay in a hotel that is well equipped, but its the quality of the staff that elevates Hotel Cubo to being truly fantastic!

Pros: Fantastic breakfast - beautiful food & attentive staff...best on our 2 months in Europe; friendly and welcoming staff at reception; handy location - walking distance to old town, restaurants, cafes etc; we obtained a reasonable rate that included breakfast; safe; luxury linen etc etc; we also liked the cafe in the lobby - we were offered a coffee in the morning while we waited for our transport.

Cons: If you like your hotels to reflect the culture of the country just a bit then the ultra modern design/artworks might disappoint a bit (see photos...grey scribbles on a white canvas-didn't appeal to me but personal taste of course); at the time of our visit in May 2013, the immediate vicinity wasn't anything special...there was a vacant block across the road (our room looked onto that) so let's hope something more visually appealing is constructed soon. Not the hotel's fault of course & after a few minutes of walking you do get to some lovely areas.

We really enjoyed our stay here especially the beautiful breakfast and the helpful staff. A big thank you to everyone at Hotel Cubo, we had a wonderful few days in Ljubljana - such a beautiful, small city (don't miss their food market-1 of best in Europe) and also a good base from which to do some wonderful day trips into the spectacular countryside.

We had a great (but unfortunately short) stay at Hotel Cubo. It is a new hotel so everything is clean. It is very modern. The staff, particularly Boris, are wonderful to work with. The breakfast that was included in our room rate was of outstanding quality and value. It was much more than the standard continental breakfast that we enjoyed on the rest of our trip through Slovenia and Italy. The location of the hotel was perfect as well. All of that for a very reasonable rate! Why look any further.

Room Tip: We had a room that had a view of the castle...was pretty cool.

Really impressed with this hotel. Took the bus from the airport to the train station and it was a 15 min walk to the hotel. Location is great - next to Kongresni Trg and about a 5 min walk from the old town. No pool or fitness centre but for a short break it doesn't matter.

Staff very friendly, rooms modern and classy. Good size, free minibar (beer, soft drinks, crisps etc). Breakfast superb - everything from made to order omelettes to home made pate, cereals, ham/cheese, fruits, you name it it will be there. Quite expensive for Ljubljana but definitely worth it.

In terms of the city itself, really liked it, not loads to see but a walk around the old town and a ride up to the castle well worth doing. Lots of nice restaurants near by - we ate at Sokol and Marley and me which were both excellent. Also had drinks at Druga Violina which was a nice spot.

We spent two perfect nights at the Hotel Cubo, and wish we had added another. This was our first visit to Slovenia, and the Cubo made us feel welcome and at home in unfamiliar surroundings. The Cubo is located just a few minutes walk from the charming old town district, but not too close where driving becomes a hassle. In fact, our arrival by car couldn't have been easier. A hotel staffer rushed out to help us park our car in a reserved spot (free of charge to us).

The decor of the hotel is clean and modern...lots of grays and blues and browns. Even though the hotel feels compact and boutique-ish, our room was spacious, with a peek-a-boo glass shower in the room, and a separate room with toilet and sink. Our room was not street facing (which we actually would have enjoyed, but did not request), so it was quiet at all hours. The bed was big and comfortable, with a soft mattress--a rarity in our rooms in Slovenia and Croatia--with top quality linens. The shower included high quality shampoos and soaps.

Two important plusses for us: 1) free wifi throughout the hotel, and 2) a hearty breakfast that included hot eggs, bacon, and cappuccinos in addition to a spread of high quality cereals, yoghurt, juices, etc.

We would return to the Hotel Cubo without hesitation. The staff were warm and friendly. We asked for dinner recommendations (and help with reservations) and they pointed us to two fantastic Slovenian meals. We could not have been happier.

Room Tip: Our room faced a quiet courtyard which was quiet day and night. Although we did not see them, the ro...
